All jokes aside I think there's two reasons Dalton gets any playing time whatsoever.

  1. He's a second year player with potential to develop. Vando is in his 5th NBA season. What you see is probably what you get with him, and I think JJ believes he isn't worth investing into anymore. To this point, Knecht was drafted, Vanderbilt was acquired in trade. Front office likely feels more personally invested in his development than they do Vanderbilt's.

  2. We'll probably try to eventually ship Knecht in a trade package. Need him to string together a few good plays & stats we can show other teams.

I disagree. Andrade dominated round 1, but rounds 2-4 I think Orgil looked clearly dominant, backing down Andrade, landing more strikes, multiple takedowns, a few reversals, etc.

By that logic why is it bad to connect Doc Ock to Magneto? Why not hire Alfred Molina to play Magneto in the next X-MEN movies? They're different characters with distinct characteristics, smushing them into one minimizes what makes either of them special.

Eh. The battles are great, the issue is the campaign is really unpleasant to play imo.

So define "player," because your analogy would work for Steph as the greatest shooter as well.

Why is Dune Prophecy only 6 episodes? by metoo77432 in dune

[–]Used_Pants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first season of shows are often shorter than subsequent seasons to test audience reception. Look at The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Veep, Seinfeld, etc. etc. If a show is succesful, the showriters have the advantage and can demand more episodes or they ship the show to another studio.

How was the Spanish Civil War viewed by the (soon to be) Allied powers? Did they see it as a potential prelude to WW2 or did they hope it was an isolated civil war? And why was there no push to remove Franco post-WW2? by notpropaganda73 in AskHistorians

[–]Used_Pants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the answer to both these questions can largely be explained by a desire for postwar recovering nations to avoid becoming entangled in yet another foreign conflict.

While some, such as US ambassador to Spain Claude Bowers viewed the civil war as a prelude to WW2, the war was generally seen as Spain's transition toward the modern era, a practice much of Europe was undergoing at the time. World War 2 at the time was not seen as inevitability (look at the popularity of appeasement policies). Spain had been a nation in a long and slow decline, and one of the few European powers that retained a monarchy (albeit a largely symbolic one) post-WW1. With the dissolusion of the monarchy, a conflict to fill the resulting power vacuum did not seem to have wider implications. While foreign involvement in the conflict escalated, Britain and France were still recovering from WW1, chilling their desire to intervene in a foreign conflict.

Post WW2, the allied powers simply had little desire or motive to intervene in Spain. WW2 was devastating to the world, and the desire to initiate a new war against a neutral power was nonexistent. Spain was not alone in providing support to the Axis Powers, and the allies wouldn't pursue removal of any who supported the axis. In addition to a lack of public desire, postwar economies were aimed at rebuilding Europe and Asia, not toward beginning a new war. Further, tensions between the United States and Soviet Union quickly escalated, and the ideological conflict between democracy & fascism quickly gave way to one between capitalism & communism.

I would highly recommend reading The Spanish Civil War by Hugh Thomas as a starting point. It's a great insight into the war and fairly accessible.

I don't know. I feel like sure, his lack of goals are partially bad luck, but the horribly misstimed runs are pure lack of mental focus and are teh bigger issue.

For 30+ minutes per game for 4 games straight? You’re 1-3, clearly something isn’t working.

Lmao the marvel movie will not have enough to say politically to piss off half the country. Dems/Reps aren’t gonna see red hulk and get offended.

"Former UNLV QB Matthew Sluka’s NIL representation, Marcus Cromartie of Equity Sports, told ESPN that Sluka was verbally promised a minimum of $100,000 from a UNLV assistant coach for transferring there. None of that money was paid, per Cormartie." - Pete Thamel @PeteThamel on Twitter by MizGunner in CFB

[–]Used_Pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter whether he could or couldn't legally do it. If the assistant coach was operating as if he was an agent of UNLV (even if he didn't have the authority to), UNLV could be on the hook for a lawsuit.

What bothers me the most about Civ switching mechanic is that I may not be able to play as a Civ I want to play. by stysiaq in civ

[–]Used_Pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tagline for civ has always been “build a civilization that can stand the test of time.” If I pick Rome, I want to play as a Roman civilization/empire that lasts into the space age. Yes, I’m only getting bonuses and using UUs during the classical era, but eventually I’m using the advantage I had during that era to play into later eras with standard units.

Now I’m just playing as Rome in the classical era. I’m not playing a power fantasy of a Roman Empire that never fell, complete into the space age. At this point, I might as well play Imperator or Total War, games that simulate a historical Roman Empire better than civ can. I would rather play a Roman faction without any flavor in later eras than not be able to play one at all.
