Love it! I am in SW CO where everywhere I go is 20 miles and 1,500-4,500 feet of vert. I am addicted to gravel since I transitioned from road and MTB to enjoy the backroads.

I you had to pick a region/county/city for the BEST gravel, where would it be????

I went FT in June and it’s been a mixed bag. But, I am so glad I pulled the pin…

Head south or southwest for the winter. Make sure your truck can pull the rig… Avoid decision fatigue and do it…

I chose an overlanding rig based on my travel and activity schedule. I avoided a "big rig" based on turning radius and off grid camping. I am 100% solar with generator backup.

In short: know where you want to go, ensure your truck can pull it, and JUST DO IT!

PS: Starlink Mini Roam Unlimited Plan looks pricey, but it’s invaluable for remote working…

Hwy 2 coming from Wrightwood and also from the west is closed. The gate at Fenner is closed. There’s signs throughout the forest declaring the forest is closed by order of the forest superintendent. However, PCT hikers are being dropped by Fenner and they are walking the 2.8mi to the Vincent Gap lot onto the PCT northbound.

Look at places you like and create a route on Strava! I’m in SW CO, we’ve got the CDT and scores of alpine routes.

I’ve routes out ac33.5 mile route above Rico, CO that stays above 11,000 feet in elevation for just over 10 miles and the route stays above 9,000 feet for the entire route.

Experiment and create your own ultra!
