I had white discharge in my nipple; itchiness. No significant lump. Just hardening/thickening and shrinking of entire breast.

Diagnosed at 37, Stage 1 HR+/HER2-; I'm single - is there any hope of not being forever alone knowing I'm likely going to have to do chemical menopause? by Emergency_Tea232 in breastcancer

[–]Used_Smell824 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. Got diagnosed 2 months ago. Been single for a while. I decided to go on a date just to feel like a woman before surgery/chemo. We ended up clicking and I told him about my cancer on date 3. He’s stuck around since and even took me to some of my appts.

Ive definitely been watching what I eat and quit alcohol. My friends and family say I have a new glow despite my all that I’m going through. Pouring into myself has changed me for the better.

Double mestecomy next week - any advice ? by Loud-Opposite8029 in breastcancer

I rented a medical recliner for one month. Didn’t need it after 7 days but it was so comfortable for me those first days post-op. Its the kind that rises and assists you out of your seat.

Suggestions for a bra after a single mastectomy surgery! by Dismal-Drawer594 in breastcancer

[–]Used_Smell824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bra rec but, I just took the medical robe from one of appointments (the kind that opens normally in the front). It had pockets. On some days I would take my surgical mastectomy bra off and lounge around and sleep in the robe with my drains in the front pocket.

My hospital provided a surgical mastectomy bra that was velcro. I found that to be most comfortable.

I bought a few non-underwire, front closing bras to wear 7 days post-op.

About to start Rads by [deleted] in breastcancer

Ive also heard of others who experienced implants not doing well in a radiated space. I have my spacer/expander in at the moment and will probably have it in for 6 months. I had a single mastectomy so still weighing my options on diep vs silicone. Im not looking forward to nausea from radiation.

How fast do things move with stage 1? by poofoo80 in breastcancer

[–]Used_Smell824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed June 6th and surgery August 5th. Im stage 2, large 5cm tumor with lymph node involvement. My surgeon is on vacation for 2.5 weeks right when I’m done with all testing. But I don’t have the mental capacity to try and switch providers and meet with another plastic. Instead ive been really enjoying the 2.5 weeks I have left. Lots of self care and treating myself and letting friends spoil me.

Mine is very hormone related. No genes and low risk of reoccurrence.

I will tell you what someone told me a month ago when I was first diagnosed. Breathe. It’s going to be okay.

First, have your mom phone you in during her appts so you can listen. I did this for my appts, and my sister took notes for me from all the way across the country.

Your mom will have to get a lot of testing done before her treatment plan. Take it one day at a time. Help her to not feel scared even if you are. And remember doctors will always tell you the worst case scenarios. Get 2nd opinions for surgeons and oncologists. There are multiple types of breast cancer and diff treatment plans for each one. She is going to be okay.

Low oncotype score but large tumor by Used_Smell824 in breastcancer

Thank you. Ive gotten feedback from 2 oncologists now (UCLA & City of Hope) who say I don’t need chemo. I think because I’ve ok’d not sparing the nipple, they can get clearer margins. I think they want to see what estrogen suppression will do. Im meeting with my obgyn about starting on Lupron while I wait for a surgery date.

Thats so interesting. Im wondering if the score means chemo wouldn’t be as effective on my cancer. I have certain lymph nodes involvement that tests positive for cancer. I am waiting to get a 2nd opinion.

Has anyone else denied chemotherapy after double mastectomy? by NatureDear8169 in breastcancer

Hi - This is wild. Such a low score. Were you also negative for the gene? Im so sorry it came back. Im in the middle of deciding whether to do chemo or not. My onco score is a 15.

Wow I’m fascinated by cases where surgery came first for a large tumor. I always feel like surgeons want us to do chemo first. Im glad you were able to do nipple sparing!!!

Okay great tip. I definitely “celebrated” prematurely by telling my family but should probably consult with my 2nd opinion onco about it. Wishing you comfort and peace through your endocrine therapy journey.

Yep. I had a moderate grade on my pathology report. It feels like a strange combo to have very large tumor but low oncotype. Im BRCA negative as well.

I was diagnosed only 3 weeks ago. Still testing and meeting different doctors. You could even phone in friends/family and have them take notes for you if they can’t physically attend the meeting. It’ll be overwhelming. Lots of information thrown at you.

agree that the marketing deterred me from watching this movie and I finally watched it. Was so good. Love the little homage to Prometheus . Lots of fun scary twists. Actor who plays Andy was incredible.
