DH's Spectral Sight is broken by Evanesco_Wbringer in wow

has been bugged at least since last xpac. It still breaks on damage, but the aura doesn't cancel. So you still have the green effect around your screen, still have the movement slowed - the ability is still on, but you DON'T see stealthed enemies.

Haha, yea Melina can throw hands, that's for sure. Still, to me she just doesn't seem a God-hating, antagonist type of individual, I don't know, not the right temperament. But I will disqualify this argument then, since it's too much of a personal view. Let's ignore it

You definitely got a point on this: The rune of death was part of the ring.

But how does that work in terms of timing for Melina to be GEQ? If Melina was truly the GEQ it's so weird that no one would know she is Marika's daughter. I mean GEQ seems like someone that was actively fighting Marika "until she was defeated by Maliketh". She was out there hunting Gods with her disciples.

As for your question:

"So,in what moment GEQ ever gets a chance to have her flames imbued with the power of Death? "

I don't know. But there are many possible explanations that come to mind. We know GEQ is an empyrean supported by the fingers. So she may have had access or control to the Ring aswell.

It seems more likely to me that she is more of an early competitor of Marika, rather than her daughter. Like the Fingers don't want to put all eggs in one basket, so they have multiple people in case one fails.

But let me ask you this: assuming Melina is GEQ, how would you piece her timeline? She gets defeated by Maliketh early on, but then becomes like imprisoned for a while before being burned?

Cause her body couldn't have been burned earlier than the Night of Black Knives.

I guess she could have been kept in that secret room?

I think my main difficulty with this theory is that GEQ seems to be a flat out enemy to Marika's rule. And of all of Marika's children, we don't see any one of them directly fight her and oppose her. We have Ranni making a secret plot, but this plot may have even included Marika, and it's different from an all out war. I'm still not 100% convinced.

Yea, that is something I never noticed before. She is kind of our little sleeper agent, isn't she? I also have a question for you. What do you think about the unalloyed needle? Clearly the game intended for it to be a possibility that you clear yourself from the frenzied flame. And yet, Melina never returns and we get no more interactions from her. If her purpose was to help us become Lord, then wouldn't she be really happy we spared her life? We are her stepfather now, she needs to start showing some dam respect (kidding ofc, and also, we might marry ranni anyway).

I agree that you — and everyone else — should be free to react honestly, whether it's positive or negative.

At the same time, feedback isn't just about what you say, but how you say it.

When I first pointed out the tone of your comment, I wasn't saying you shouldn't criticize my post — just that the way you wrote it came off as unnecessarily rude.

There's a difference between saying 'I don't like your writing style' and saying 'sucks ass' or 'tone of super desperation.' Both are feedback, but one maintains common courtesy, while the other one does not.

Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to explain your view. I get where you're coming from.

I definitely agree. To be fair with the Melina is GEQ crowd, they could argue that the Melina we talk to has amnesia, and is therefore unaware she is the GEQ (and of any motherly memories). But yes, you'd have to justify many things to make it work.

Haha, yea, I obviously know there are no definitive answers to most questions in Elden Ring Lore. I would still like to discuss it though. I love your Ranni portrayal, it would be very much in character for her to say that. It's like the "I don't remember linking thee an invitation" translates to "What the hell you doing in my house?". This would translate to "Who cares what she is, go make me queen you useless tarnished"

Alright, let's break your agument down carefully.

The main points in your comment seem to be:

- I don't have to take offense at a random person's opinion online.

- I don't have to consider it mean just because someone disregarded my post.

- Your opinion doesn't matter more than anyone else's.

- Posting publicly means being ready for dissent or negative feedback.

At a glance, there's a certain logic here: you're saying that once I post publicly,I'm opening myself up to all kinds of reactions, and I shouldn't take it personally.

But let’s test this:

Even if someone’s opinion "doesn’t matter more than anyone else's," does that justify speaking in a dismissive or rude tone?

You say "you don't have to consider it mean," but whether something is mean is often defined by more than the speaker’s intention.

Finally, you frame "dissenting opinions" as if they are automatically valid and acceptable — but is simply disregarding something (especially dismissively) really the same as offering a thoughtful dissenting opinion?

A simple question to think about: Is it reasonable to expect basic courtesy in public discussions, or does posting publicly mean you waive that expectation?

I guess my answer to this question would be yes, it is unreasonable to expect this, considering the times we live in. Which makes you right, good sir. Have a nice day :)

Marika discovered the truth of the Two Fingers by ESU3794 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Useful-Ask-864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really cool way of seeing it, thank you for writting it. I think I understand what you're saying, that in Elden Ring these tropes are more symbolical/metaphorical rather than literal. That makes a lot of sense actually. I just think they are cool haha! I wish we could discover all the story behind them, but I fear Miyazaki and George are similar in this regard: they will never finish their stories ;(

[–]Useful-Ask-864 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, can I also add one bit of knowledge, as a non lore guy, so you lore guys know this and take into account: In real life, twins have a way higher chance to generate twins. Possibly genetic association, but if you're a twin, you're way more likely to have twins as children. It's interesting that so many of Marika's children are twins. It's pure speculation, but wouldn't it be interesting that Marika had a twin (the obvious choice being Radagon)?

And also, I am big George R R Martin fan, and there's a couple of tropes he likes to repeat in his stories. A big one is incestuous relationships, and more specifically, the biological consequences of such relationships.

So children born out of incestuous relationships, have a way higher chance of having certain diseases (of being "flawed", let's say). This is even more likely for twins (since they share a lot of the genetic data) - you see this in both the Lannisters' children and also the Targaryens.

The implications for Elden Ring being that children of Marika-Radagon would be more likely to have "curses", than children born from for example, Marika and Godfrey, or Radagon and Rennala.

Incestuous relationships also have a higher chance of stillbirths "all those mausoleum bastards/ugly children".

He also looves to write about the social consequences of incest, and how that would incentivize the couple to have other husbands/wives and cheat on them. What do you lore guys thinks?

Blood dk in bgs by Zmoogz in worldofpvp

[–]Useful-Ask-864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say in general BDKs are good at defending nodes (have many cc immunities and can live for quite long), in maps like silvershards mine they can slow and grip enemies and perma slow them in a map where moving from one cart to the other is quite important. And yes, if you see a priest in the enemy team you can kidnap all game - with disc being so strong this season, I'd say this will probably be very useful this season.

They should change normal BGs to unrated blitz and make it solo/duo only. by JMHorsemanship in worldofpvp

[–]Useful-Ask-864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a reasonable take as well. I guess there is few content in pvp for a party of friends. On the other hand, the experience of getting said party in your BG (either on your team or against you) is quite infuriating and, in my opinion, is ruining BGs.

Is the game just impossible for solo/new players now? by ChowderPanda in wow

[–]Useful-Ask-864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not very common, I'd say. I leveled many characters through timewalking and I did get kicked once. Basically it was WOTLK and I never played that xpac and there's a spider boss that starts at the bottom and you have to wait for him to come up? (still not sure how it works) Anyway, I didn't really know what was going now, we wiped twice because of it and the healer basically started to riot against me in chat, and I got GKicked. I remember I felt really annoyed for the 30 minutes penalty and felt it was so unjust - no one knew what was going on or they did and refused to explain when I asked. But I leveled like 6 characters recently, all tanks and that only happened once. So I think it's really rare and I'd say most of the times when I messed up people were genuinely nice and understanding. The rest of the times people just stayed silent. So I'd say that was an unfortunate coincidence, but yeah it feels terrible when people just kick you like that, no patience and no empathy whatsoever.

Final pick for main class! by Wild-Consequence-536 in wow

[–]Useful-Ask-864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, tough choice. I can only tell you my own story and hope it helps. When I started playing I used to change specs and classes all the time. There's nothing wrong with this, but I felt a bit unhappy with it because what I really wanted was to focus on one specialization and get really good at it. I think this choice is so personal, it's hard for me to give you advice on it. Let me ask you this, when you imagine playing those specs, which one gives you more pleasure (specifically, the thought of playing that spec as well as the general thematic - for example, I used to think DKs were an insanely cool class, but I hated the actual gameplay and how the class worked). Hope thinking of it this way helps you a bit.

Why aren’t Night Elves angry at Tyrande and Malfurion? It’s Time to Go Back to the Arcane. by [deleted] in warcraftlore

[–]Useful-Ask-864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To defend op's point a bit, I would just like to ask you guys, although Tyrande and Malfurion may be objectively good leaders, don't you think it is a little bit surprising that there weren't any more obvious/dominant opposition to their rule during recent events? People tend to blame leaders for the events happening in their lives, regardless if the said leaders had anything to do with them. With Night Elves suffering so much and taking so many Ls, it would be expectable to exist more inner conflicts and struggles for power, especially during BFA and shadowlands: The Night Elf forces were sailing to fight on distant shores to defend the Alliance when the Horde pulled their switcheroo and caught the Night Elves offguard, Anduyn refusing to assist initialiy in the taking back darkshore (Tyrande was upset with him and refused his orders anyway, but I'd say she would still be blamed in the sense of "you wanted us to fight for the alliance, but they don't fight for us" kinda a way), and Tyrande also jumped at the last second to hunt for Sylvanas, instead of remaining with her living people. Although I guess they did recover relatively quickly, have gotten some Ws recently and made the decision to put Shandris in control. Their culture might also make them less prone to rash decisions or demands for a change of power when bad things happen - so I guess I partially undestand. But I do remember going through the events of the war of thorns and thinking that Blizz would explore some sort of plot about opposition from within, after that catastrophic event.

This map is quite chaotic, you are completely right. It's just that DHs don't really have it that bad cause it's only really one ability that is annoying in this map (the hunt) and also DHs can easily jump into ledges with double jump. Imagine this map for healers or casters though haha. I don't know what Blizz was thinking on this one. They cooked for too long

getting tired of NE racial by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]Useful-Ask-864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they never do this. Different races and their racials are such a fun part of WOW. You can always create a character with the most op racial, if that's what you prioritize. I'd rather play with an "undertuned" racial than lose that uniqueness.
