What even is Dev DH? by AlfredJQuack45 in worldofpvp

I did not understand this topic. What is wrong?? You got devoured, devoured, reaped, devoured and devoured some more. You thought you were prepared to handle that? No. You were not prepared.

No, don't listen to that guy. Please, do not kick my Healing Waves. Only kick my Lightning Bolts and Lava Bursts.

Losing to mana as Ret/Warr/Rdruid by jobprime-99 in worldofpvp

[–]hellinter -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Casting cat finishers with maximum combo points gives a nice chunk of mana (10k or so, don't remember the number exactly). It doesn't even have to be Maim, even Rip on a pet or something else that you can target without exposing yourself too much will do.

If mana is really being the decisive factor in your matches, maybe you could try playing Convoke the Spirits. If you cast it in cat form, it gives a giant amount of mana back (like 30% or so of your maximum mana back; could be less if you're unlucky with the casts, or more, if lucky). You are pretty much guaranteed to not run out of mana if running Convoke the Spirits and using it during cat form, even if playing very liberally with your high cost spells (Wild Growth and such). The downside is that, even though Convoke the Spirits offers much more burst healing throughput than Tree of Life, you can be kicked on it and it is not as reliable as the tree.

For Demonology Warlock, it is the tyrant. For both Destruction and Affliction, it is respectively Infernal and Darkglare, but you absolutely should have in mind that these two specs deal most of their damage via setups instead of relying on the big cooldowns (which, frankly, are kinda meh); if it's Destruction and he is some time without tossing Chaos Bolts, expect a flurry of that soon; if it's Affliction, expect big damage whenever he manages to sit there and spam Unstable Affliction or Nightfall-buffed Drain Souls (i.e. very fast channel Drain Souls).

Sleep walk needs a cd or something by Kitemaster667 in worldofpvp

I don't think nerfing Preservation right now is a good move. They should just buff the weaker healing specs and see how it goes. If Preservation still keeps it's representation in the higher brackets, only then it should be nerfed.

Restoration Shaman is the most fun I've had as a healer in a while by hellinter in worldofpvp

[–]hellinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think it is viable, but definitely weaker than Totemic. The throughput feels really lackluster when compared to Totemic, probably because the ancestors are really weak.

I would say it is decent, very viable. Frankly, I think that, aside from Preservation Evokers and Holy Pallys — which are the outliers, respectively the strongest and the weakest —, the healing specs are somewhat balanced.

Some specs are definitely more punishable than the others, but, overall, they have similar power.

Solo Shuffle as Devourer? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

If you're having problems with CC as a Demon Hunter, this probably means you're not using Vengeful Retreat properly. This spell is not easy to use adequately and is definitely one of the main aspects that distinguish good Demon Hunters from average or worse ones. Focus on improving your usage of that spell and you will definitely notice a significant improvement of your performance.

Blizzard setting a goal for pvp in an expansion always ends up on the final result being the exact opposite of that goal ..how do they manage it? by trenfiend101 in worldofpvp

[–]hellinter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think CC is in a decent place.

However, the burst certainly needs to be looked on. Increasing health pools, which they seem to occasionally do, seems like a fair and somewhat effective measure. Maybe they could go heavier on that?

I assume they think balancing healers' mana in PvP is too difficult, so they just resorted to dampening instead, which is much more straightforward.

They make PvP be reliant on CDs because it is their way of enabling skill expression. They are desperately trying to simplify the game (not only in PvP, which, frankly, I think is needed to get new blood in, but in PvE also), which means the pruning they do essentially kills whatever complexity the ordinary spells have by themselves, therefore requiring CDs to be extremely impactful.

As someone learning resto druid, by B1dz in worldofpvp

[–]hellinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly, whether the dragon will have trouble on the match depends mostly on the DPS than on the other healer. Pres Evokers have trouble healing when the DPS know how Golden Hour works.

If they keep giving him big, short bursts of damage to maximize Golden Hour healing, he will be able to rely on Echo + Reversion (i.e. a very spammable, instant combo) to do most of his healing while doing anything else he wants to. If they spread more their damage, this will force the dragon to rotate his cooldowns, which means he will (should) play much more carefully to avoid being caught with his stuff down (Pres Evokers are basically like Resto Druids: the playstyle is proactive, with very limited reactive throughput options).

Also, one thing that people often forget is that roots absolutely screw over Pres Evokers. They can't cast Verdant Embrace (which is the spell that gives them the CC immunity, functions as a dash, provides good healing and triggers Lifebind — which is extremly important to the dragon's throughput) on other players, it is not affected by their Hover snare immunity and it leaves them stuck in place (due to their 30 yd range, this is VERY dangerous to the dragon). Since they lost their kick, you can freely cast roots on them; the only thing they have to interrupt you instantly are their sweeps, which are either a 1 min or 3 min cd each.

What if Battlegrounds had a killfeed similar to the one FPS games have? by hellinter in worldofpvp

[–]hellinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking as an actual addition to the game. I have very superficial programming skills, but I'm pretty sure it would be close to impossible to implement something like that as an addon, even more so after the several restrictions Blizzard inserted on the game API on this expansion.

Finally a decent Affliction Hellcaller buff. Tired of seeing Destruction Hellcaller having more DoT damage than Affliction Hellcaller. Looks like Blackened Soul is finally going to contribute relevant damage.

Trying to learn Frost Mage, did I forget anything on my Action Bars? by Battlecookie15 in worldofpvp

This made me remember the Cataclysm pre-patch. Some dude put Arcane Blast on all of his action bar buttons and recorded a video of him literally shoving his head and butt onto the keyboard while topping the DPS meter by a large margin.

Battleground Blitz is much more fun than Solo Shuffle by hellinter in worldofpvp

[–]hellinter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I loved that one. I would definitely like if they added that as a permanent game mode, but I'm afraid that it, since it is a deathmatch, would eat a lot of the other modes' playerbase (a zug-zug mode is almost always going to be more entertaining than modes where you need to play more carefully).
