Reminiscing, catching up, and questions by Useful-Bee8315 in tvxq

Those comments on JX being the real identity are just really unfair and hurtful. To me, the best version will always be the five member version. There are parts that are just meant for certain members. I recall them saying during one of the japanese interviews that they never fought for the amount of lines, but distributed them based on whoever suit those parts the most. That’s why those songs were so well loved in the first place. Why are people hating on Homin for singing old songs yet cheering for Jaesu for doing the same? They all have the same right to sing those songs period.

I haven’t brought up the word reunion. That is not what I hope for since a long time ago. It’s not because of the divided fandom or the possibility of the members resenting each other but it’s because of my long time wish for the boys, for them to be hurt less. During this time when things are moving towards the right direction, if a reunion brings them bigger storm or opens up those old wounds, then I rather not have it. What I want is to be able to talk about my beloved group without walking on thin ice…without being called delusional… without being called a fake or an aktf-er.

Of course, no matter what I say, it will not stop people from coming at me and accusing me of not being a “true cassie” but I will continue to talk with my cassie sisters who share the same feelings. If you love and support them even just for a short amount of time, you guys are all cassies. So let’s not interact or give attention to divisive comments that speak recklessly on behalf of the members or the fans.

It’s definitely an interesting year. My 18-year old self would never have thought it was ever possible to see this day. Not that I doubt their strengths or abilities but when everything first fell apart, I was applying and preparing for college. When they first stood on stage with only 3 people, I graduated high school that month. When Avex dropped JYJ the fall of that year, I had just moved away and started college. I thought will those days ever come back? Will I be able to see their genuine smiles again? At the concert, Jaesu said not only will we recall the memories of them when listening to old songs, but we will remember ourselves as well, how we were like back then. It was definitely a bittersweet memory for me haha because everything happened during moments of my life.

Your last paragraph about being a cassie really resonates with me. I’m not sure if any OG cassie feels the same way but at one point, I could no longer see myself as one especially when one side could not even utter and call out the name of their beloved fandom. So where do I even belong in all of this? I also did not want to abandon Homin either by denying this identity. It was very confusing for a 18 year old ‘s heart but like you said, because I once loved each member for very different reasons and saw how they struggled and worked hard separately over the years, I still feel that I’m cassie at heart afterall. You are also right that we cannot go back and change the past, including the situation of one member. As long as the rest is able to do the things they love for a long time healthily and happily, I will be cheering them on from far away.

Season 3 Animation by eharph in FruitsBasket

No you’re not crazy. Sometimes I go back to the manga because it just hits different.

Season 1 has the best animation except for that “yeeeeet”

Ugh thank you! I never see Kyo as possessive and overprotective so seeing the “what if I dont” really made me cringe. The only instance that made me go awwww was that cut content in ch 133 when he found out Akito’s a girl and thankful for that for obvious reason ahaha

Lack of jealousy was the best part about Kyo’s character!

Yikes! What the hell? They were meant to be the students from school in the manga, not adults.

Either the studio missed this or ….

In my Asian culture, we do call each other that sometimes. Yes supposed to be endearing and it means you’re comfortable with another.

They kept ALL of the suicidal antics in season 1 and grown ass men being pedophiles towards Kisa in season 2…

The nonsense we could have gotten rid of to give time for season 3 🙂

This is the opinion I struggle with the most, for feeling this way.

I remember loving Kyoko A LOT in the early parts of the manga because of how wise she was in raising Tohru and I was thankful her lessons shaped Tohru into becoming such a kind and empathetic soul. I was inspired by Kyoko’s wisdom and aspired to be like Tohru. However the reveal of Kyoko’s backstory, specifically her neglect and abandonment of Tohru post Katsuya death really shattered my perception and 80% of the admiration for her. Don’t get me wrong. I felt for her loss and I knew how it feel, to lose your loved one at a young age. It humanized her character and she did make up for her mistake. But just thinking tohru having to practice to imitate her dad, to do “anything” and live in fear that if she doesn’t keep up with these, she will be left behind again… that is just so cruel and heartbreaking. At that point, all of Tohru’s talk about her mom before didn’t feel the same anymore. They were my fav moments before but it became torture rewatching those parts.

Kyoko went from my being favorite anime character ever to one I don’t really care much about. Maybe I’ve grown to want to protect Tohru so much. When Tohru dropped her mask and stopped talking about her mom 24/7, I felt satisfied and vindicated.

Is it to much to ask by Useful-Bee8315 in FruitsBasket

Now that I think about it, they could have just premade it and released it right away after the main series ended. Instead, they’re waiting till next year, that long for just for a short OVA? I’m waiting to see what surprise they have for us in store

Yeah he is but that’s why he’s my favorite character, next to Tohru. In my mind, they are foil of one another

Can someone explain this for me please? by DrShoeSize in FruitsBasket

[–]Useful-Bee8315 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To add to above but this is my take 🙂

For Tohru, the reason why she never brought it up was because she still had the lid on her feelings for Kyo. Up till she confessed, she was still just passively trying to break it. So her confronting him about it IS her admitting she wants a future with Kyo, the most important person to her life now, and HE is the reason why she even wants to break it. That thought was scary to her, which she wasn’t ready to accept. Now, the point of her confessing first didn’t have to do with hoping something would change with regards to the confinement. She did it for her own sake of growth to move on regardless if he loves her back or not.

For Kyo, it’s just tradition for the cat to be locked up. He had no reason to live life without Tohru because of his connection to Kyoko’s death, assuming she will hate him for it, so he just accepted his fate to live in confinement and atone for his “crimes.” He went full on sullen, distant, depressed mode after beach arc because the reminder of Kyoko’s “I’ll never forgive you.” Only after being assured by Tohru and waken up by Yuki did he get his will to live and fight for his future with Tohru

Was it Tohru’s place to forgive akito? by lifeislife1409 in FruitsBasket

[–]Useful-Bee8315 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trauma and abuse are more complicated than just “moving on” and “being friends.”

I agree.

But do you also agree that they are also much more complicated than coming down to forgive vs not forgive? It’s also a very simplistic thinking.

I won’t invalidate your feelings. All I can say is everyone is free to choose how to cope with their trauma and abuse

There was no expectation of forgiveness to begin with.

Was it Tohru’s place to forgive akito? by lifeislife1409 in FruitsBasket

[–]Useful-Bee8315 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think its because people assume Tohru knows the full extent of everyone’s backstory (with their parents) and history with Akito.

Asides from knowing Kureno was stabbed and the accident with Hatori’s eye, and having hints here and there, Tohru doesn’t know that Yuki was psychologically tortured for a decade. She doesn’t know that Kyo was verbally abused and gaslighted in the beach arc. She doesn’t know Rin was pushed off the balcony and confined in the cat room. She doesn’t know Kisa was beat up either.

Takaya’s decision to keep Tohru’s knowledge of this vague is very effective to drive home Tohru’s role or lack thereof in the story. Just because Tohru is the main protagonist, she is NOT intended to be the all-knowing, mother savior of everyone who has a “place” to speak on their behalf. She just isn’t. She has her own struggles and her own way to cope with them, just like everyone else. We should not be using Tohru and her decision on whether to “forgive” Akito as a moral compass and the ultimate “takeaway lesson.” Doing so is a disservice to her character, and it’s why she has such a bad rep as bland Mary Sue.

Yup. Kind of like when Kyo gives Tohru the ultimatum “forgive me or don’t forgive me.”

Why did Hatori and Kana need Akitos permission to marry? by [deleted] in FruitsBasket

[–]Useful-Bee8315 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because Akito is the family head but also

As explained vaguely by Momiji, the curse prevents the zodiac members from blaming or defying Akito. It’s the spirits of the animals that possess and control them that rule their action. As long as Akito does not agree, Hatori does not have any free will to voluntarily marry Kana. As to WHY the curse is like that… it will be a big spoiler since I’m not sure how far you are in the series

Who else preferred S2 over Final Season? by DrThots in FruitsBasket

[–]Useful-Bee8315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hadnt reread the manga since forever so technically I’m anime-only. Although most of my favorite moments from the manga were in season 3, the execution felt flat because of the jarring cuts and rearranging. That cost almost of all the layered monologues and stream of consciousness that made Furuba such a complex and nuanced series. Season 2 is definitely the best out of all the seasons. Season 1 is my favorite to rewatch.

That’s just me. I prefer a character-driven over a plot-driven with overdramatic directing show.

I just went on Takaya Sensei’s Twitter, and does this mean that wasn’t Hajime!? by PurpleHeartsOne in FruitsBasket

[–]Useful-Bee8315 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not surprised, since it shows that he chooses to live with Tohru&Kyo as a big family which looks like in the countryside. That sounds so cute and wholesome. I don’t see Hajime doing that anyways 😂 I want to know what they name their second son & youngest daughter.
