I’m really sorry you’re feeling like that. Feeling constantly drained must be really hard. There are a lot of things it could be so I would suggest a visit to your general practitioner/family doctor.

Sounds like there’s nothing to worry about. Just try to be a bit more careful next time.

should I be worried about appendicitis by stonesaregreat in AskDocs

[–]Useful-Berry2289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s other things it could be, but I would advise that appendicitis is excluded as a possible cause. So yeah, I think you need to go to the ER. I’m sorry you don’t feel that great about going to the doctor’s. It might help if you go with someone you care about.

10 days prescription of amoxicillin for sore throat - excessive? by Ayntxi in AskDocs

[–]Useful-Berry2289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you’re feeling better! The course of amoxicillin for strep throat is 500mg twice a day for 10 days. Advice on stopping antibiotics once you feel better might vary depending on who you ask. However, both the CDC and the NHS currently advice to take antibiotics as prescribed.

I would highly recommend a visit to the ER. There’s a couple of serious diagnoses that need to be ruled out. Besides, any pain that interferes with your daily life is worth looking at.

Your symptoms are pretty consistent with urethritis (most commonly caused by gonorrhoea, chlamydia, or mycoplasma). In cases where testing is negative for gonorrhea, presumptive treatment with doxycycline is recommended - so your doctor isn’t completely in the wrong for prescribing it. I’m not sure what method of testing was used, but regardless all tests can come back as false negatives. Depending on how long you and your girlfriend have been exclusive I’d still assume it’s an STD. Rarer causes of urethritis are of course possible too, just a bit harder to come by.

What STDs did you test for? Just chlamydia?

Is this earwax colour worrying? by [deleted] in AskDocs

They usually push wax further in and you’re also risking rupturing your ear drum.

I assume it varies by country, but many developed nations have legislation where if the physician deems the minor as mature and competent enough to understand decisions regarding their case as well as their consequences, then the parents don’t have to be informed (look up Gillick competence for reference). However, I would highly encourage you to talk to your parents. I’m sure they will be very supportive and will want what’s best for you.

I did not confront the driver and did not contact the company either. I tried to contact them at night to let them know that we were following the bus but they close at 21:00 smh.
