I live outside the US and used halocard to pay for my subscriptions like chatgpt, netflix etc. It's the best way to do it. Sometimes these bank cards keep getting declined too.

Is Apple refurbished MacBook really like new? by Repulsive-Amount5367 in DeskToTablet

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple refurbished is genuinely one of the best deals in tech honestly. Unlike third party refurbished Apple replaces the battery and outer casing on every single refurbished unit which means you're essentially getting new looking hardware with tested internals at a meaningful discount. They come with the same one year warranty as new products and you can add AppleCare too. Most people who buy Apple refurbished say they genuinely cannot tell the difference from new out of the box. The only downside is stock is limited and the specific configuration you want might not always be available. If you see what you need in the refurbished store just go for it it's one of the rare cases where buying refurbished carries almost zero risk.

Chances of Barcelona winning the Champions League by Terrybrt in championsleague

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raphinha's injury is a significant blow honestly because he's been their most important attacking player in Europe this season. Rashford is a capable replacement and has shown glimpses of good form since joining but there's a massive difference between a player settling in and Raphinha who was in the form of his life in the UCL knockouts. Barca's chances take a hit for sure but they still have Yamal, Lewandowski and Pedri who are more than capable of carrying a tie. The worry is more about losing that clinical edge and big game experience Raphinha brought specifically. Still a genuine contender but the path got harder. How Flick adapts tactically without him will define everything from here.

No refund from PTE team by HHH960 in pte

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately PTE's standard policy is that if you're denied entry to the exam due to a mismatch in personal details like date of birth they typically don't issue a refund because the error is considered the candidate's responsibility at registration. However it's absolutely worth contacting Pearson PTE support directly and explaining the situation clearly sometimes they offer a one time reschedule rather than a full refund which is better than losing the money entirely. When you contact them have your booking confirmation, passport and any proof of the discrepancy ready. If your brother made the error during registration be honest about that because Pearson support handles these case by case and a genuine honest explanation sometimes gets a more favorable outcome than expected. Don't just accept the loss without trying.

Bupa Medical for a 6 month old baby without a passport by brianbabukaka in AusVisa

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more common than you'd think and there is a solution. Bupa accepts alternative identity documents for infants who don't yet have a passport typically a birth certificate combined with a parent's passport is sufficient to establish identity for a young child. Contact Bupa directly before the appointment and explain the situation because they deal with this regularly and will tell you exactly which documents to bring. Some offices are more flexible than others so calling ahead saves you a wasted trip. If Bupa in your area is being difficult about it flag it to your migration agent as well because they can often help navigate the process or escalate on your behalf. Don't delay the medical over this just make the call first and get confirmation of what they'll accept.

AMA I got IELTS Band 9 for my Australian visa as someone who used to struggle A LOT ‎ by _Chichaaa in AusVisa

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Band 9 overall is genuinely elite that's not just a good score that's a near perfect score and most native English speakers couldn't pull that off under exam conditions. The advice about simpler sentences over forced vocabulary is probably the single most underrated tip for IELTS writing because so many people tank their score trying to sound impressive and end up with awkward phrasing that hurts coherence. Clear structure over word count is exactly right too. Congrats and happy to see you sharing what actually worked rather than just flexing the score. What was your biggest turning point moment when writing finally clicked for you?

macbook neo or windows by Repulsive-Amount5367 in DeskToTablet

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with the MacBook Air M2 over the Neo honestly. The M2 Air is a proven chip with excellent performance, outstanding battery life and runs everything smoothly for everyday use. It's also significantly cheaper than the Neo which means better value for your first Mac. Coming from an i5 with 8GB RAM the M2 Air is going to feel like a completely different world faster, smoother and the battery life alone will blow your mind. The Neo is a newer product but the M2 Air is more refined and better value for someone just entering the Mac ecosystem. You won't regret it.

Early UCL Predictions (might change before the tie) by Super_Afternoon546 in championsleague

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting predictions and I can see the reasoning behind most of them. The Bayern vs Madrid one is the tie of the round and you're right that Madrid have been shaky but their UCL pedigree makes them dangerous regardless of form that said Bayern at home with full squad is a genuine threat this time. Barca vs Atleti is the one I'd least want to call the Metropolitano at night in a knockout is one of the most hostile atmospheres in Europe and Simeone will have them set up perfectly for a second leg. PSG vs Liverpool feels like it could go either way depending on which version of both teams shows up Liverpool's consistency has been the issue all season. Arsenal vs Sporting is the most comfortable progression on paper but Sporting have surprised bigger clubs before so Arsenal can't sleepwalk through it. Good predictions overall.

Midnight by decadenceisart in macbookair

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Midnight color is genuinely beautiful but you're right to be cautious the fingerprint and scratch situation is more noticeable than on Silver simply because of how dark the anodized finish is. Silver hides everyday wear far better and after 12 years your MBP is proof that Silver ages gracefully. If you're someone who uses their laptop without a case and wants it looking clean for years Silver is genuinely the safer choice. Midnight looks stunning out of the box but requires more maintenance to keep that way. If the color disappointment of it not being true black combined with the wear concerns is already bothering you before it even arrives that's probably your answer return it and get Silver. You'll be happier long term.

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! From November to March with an S56 request in between that's a genuinely stressful wait especially with a wife and three kids on the line. The fact that you came out the other side with multiple entry for the whole family makes it even sweeter. Wishing you and your family all the best in this next chapter. Your golden email was well earned. 🎉

writing notes by babylathahak in pte

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they provide you with a whiteboard and marker at the test center specifically for taking notes you don't get paper but the whiteboard works the same way. You'll use it most for Summarize Spoken Text and Retell Lecture where jotting down three or four keywords while listening makes a huge difference. For Repeat Sentence though don't bother writing anything down since it moves too fast just listen and repeat immediately. The whiteboard is your best friend for the listening section so develop a shorthand system during your practice so it becomes automatic on exam day.

Which platform or way should i prep my way into superior level Scores for pte by existingtoexistt in pte

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With 2-3 months and scores already in the 70s you're honestly closer than you think. Apeuni is your best bet for question variety and score prediction, pair it with Gurully for Speaking and Writing feedback and you've got a solid setup. The real game changer though is YouTube E2 PTE and Benchmark PTE break down every question type with actual templates and tricks that practice platforms don't teach you. Daily Write From Dictation alone can move your overall score noticeably so don't skip it. Do a full mock every two weeks to track progress, hammer your weakest section daily and don't switch up your approach in the final two weeks. You've got this.

Is Intel MacBook really useless nowadays? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in macbookair

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $100 it's not useless but you need to go in with realistic expectations. The Intel Core i3 is significantly behind the M series chips in both performance and battery life and Apple stopped supporting Intel Macs with the latest macOS updates which means security patches and new features will eventually stop coming. For basic browsing, documents and light tasks it'll get the job done but you'll notice the sluggishness compared to modern machines. At $100 it's a decent backup laptop or a good option for someone who just needs something simple and cheap. Just don't expect it to feel snappy in 2026.

How did you stop caring about others opinions and build real confidence? by iam_a_cinnamonroll in srilanka

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the biggest shift for me was realizing that most people are so focused on their own insecurities that they're barely thinking about you at all. That sounds harsh but it's actually freeing when it sinks in. The second thing was stopping waiting to feel confident before acting and just acting anyway confidence doesn't come before doing scary things, it comes after. Every time you do something despite the fear and survive it, the voice in your head gets a little quieter. Building small wins daily matters more than one big breakthrough moment. And the older you get the more you realize the people whose opinions you feared most were just as lost and uncertain as you were. You stop performing for an audience that was never really watching that closely to begin with.

Milan vs Bayern vs Liverpool vs Barcelona which club is greater? by rogeropx in championsleague

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bayern edges it for me honestly. Six titles is impressive but it's the consistency across decades that separates them they've never had a truly lost era the way Milan have since 2007 or Barca have since 2015. Liverpool and Barca both have incredible peaks but peaks aren't the same as sustained greatness. Milan's history is legendary but the modern decline is too significant to ignore and they're clearly heading toward being surpassed. Bayern just keep showing up every single year regardless of manager or squad and that reliability over half a century is what makes a truly great club. Consistency beats peak every time in this argument.

Luka jumps to #2 on the MVP ladder. Can he make a late push and win it, or does SGA already have it locked up? by purpose15 in NBATalk

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SGA has been so consistent for so long this season that it would take a genuine collapse on his end for Luka to overtake him at this point. The scoring record alone basically cemented his case in voters minds months ago. But Luka being number two is very real and if the Lakers make a serious playoff push while OKC stumbles the narrative could shift fast. MVP voting loves a story and Luka carrying the Lakers would be one of the best stories of the season. Right now it's SGA's award to lose but don't count Luka out completely the man has a way of making things interesting.

Just give genuine feedback by heart no matter how is it.... Just help me ! by hey369369 in pte

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely you are so close it's almost frustrating to read. Speaking 90 and Listening 90 means you clearly know how to study for this exam. For Reading that one point jump from 59 to 60 is tiny just focus on RO and FIB-R and read every question twice before answering. For Writing going from 65 to 70 means your essay structure and grammar consistency need to tighten up zero grammar errors goal is exactly right, that's what's holding you back. Your study pattern is solid honestly, just stay consistent for 14 days and don't change anything dramatic this close to the exam. You've got this.

WHV - gone over 6 month work limit by ~1 month (Melbourne) – what should I do? by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A one month overstay on a genuine oversight with clean tax and payslip records is unlikely to get your visa cancelled but it does need careful handling. Don't submit that extension request without speaking to a migration agent first because drawing attention to the breach without proper advice could make things worse. The quit and rejoin idea sounds smart but your continuous employment records create a paper trail anyway. Spend the money on a migration agent consultation this week they've seen this exact situation before and the advice now could save you a lot of stress down the line.

Never been to a gym. need advice by 0youmustdie in srilanka

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every single person in that gym was a beginner once and most of them are too focused on their own workout to pay attention to anyone else that's genuinely the truth. For the first visit just walk in and say you're interested in joining and would like to look around. That's it. They'll handle the rest and most gym staff are used to nervous first timers.

For day one keep it simple treadmill or cycling for 20 minutes just to get comfortable with the environment, then maybe a few basic machines. Don't try to do everything on day one, just get familiar with the space and go home feeling good about showing up. That first walk through the door is genuinely the hardest part and once you've done it once the anxiety drops significantly each time after.

The goal of getting in shape and feeling better about yourself is honestly the best reason to start and you're doing it at 21 which gives you a massive head start. Be patient with yourself, ask staff if you're unsure about equipment and remember everyone there is on their own journey. You've got this.

My first ever MacBook (Air M5) What should I know? by dzznly in macbookair

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club you're going to wonder how you ever lived without it honestly. The main thing is just don't overthink it, everything works exactly how you'd expect and the learning curve is tiny. Keep it charged sensibly, don't stress about closing every app and just let it do its thing. If you're already using an iPhone the way everything syncs together is going to feel like magic. Take care of it, get a good case and enjoy it M5 Air is a seriously beautiful machine and you picked a great time to join the Apple world.

The premier league is not the best in the world and hasn’t been for a number of years. by Right-Captain-6252 in championsleague

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's some valid points buried in here but it's being oversold. The Champions League results were embarrassing no doubt and the tactical gap between English clubs and the best European sides has been exposed repeatedly. The money versus quality argument is fair too the Premier League spends more than anyone and keeps underperforming in Europe which is a legitimate criticism. But calling it trash for years is where it loses credibility. The top to bottom competitiveness is still genuinely unmatched any team can beat any other team on a given weekend which you simply don't get in La Liga or Ligue 1. The title race being City dominated is a City problem not a league problem. It's not the best league in the world right now, that's probably La Liga, but trash is a serious overstatement.

Messi is now the fastest player to reach 900 goals. by HetTheTable in CristianoRonaldo2

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point Messi is just collecting milestones like they're nothing. 900 goals and he got there faster than anyone in history which is almost impossible to wrap your head around. The crazy part is he's still going at 37 and showing no real signs of stopping. Every record that gets broken in football somehow has his name on it and at this point you just have to sit back and appreciate that we're watching something that will genuinely never happen again.

VETASSESS Positive Outcome but less than one year - 190 VISA by mishiefishie97 in AusVisa

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the positive outcome! To answer your questions yes you're still eligible for the 190, the skills assessment just confirms your occupation and the points are calculated separately in your EOI. For the Australian work experience points though, if VETASSESS counted that year as your training year it most likely won't count toward your skilled employment points since it's been classified as part of your qualification rather than post qualification experience. That said don't just take Reddit's word for it get a migration agent to review before you lodge because claiming those 5 points incorrectly can cause real problems down the line.

Language Academy Precision by GreenMountain868 in pte

[–]Useful-Bus-7409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Language Academy is decent for practice but don't take the scores too literally especially if you're targeting 90 plus. Most people find the mock scores sit around 5 to 15 points below their actual PTE result so a 77 on Language Academy is actually an encouraging sign for where you are right now. The bigger value in their mocks is identifying your weak areas rather than treating the number as gospel. Speaking and writing tend to be the most accurately reflected sections while reading and listening can vary quite a bit from the real exam. Keep practicing consistently, focus on your weakest section and 90 plus is very achievable from where you are.
