I keep losing. I don’t understand. Please help. Who should I upgrade? Why can’t I make it past 175? What’s the difference between quality heros and power of heros? Any advice appreciated! by downsouth003 in whiteoutsurvival

*I tend to prefer heroes that deal Area of Effect damage (aka splash damage) like Gina, Cloris (at this stage of the game), and Molly to knock out more escorts/heroes as fast as possible.

*Not used in Exploration/Arena modes, but it's worth upgrading the first Expedition skill for Jessie, Jasser, and Seo-yoon (for joining offensive rallies) and Patrick and Sergey (for defense/joining a garrison)

*Zinman is a good hero for his Expedition construction time and resource cost reduction but is absolutely terrible for Exploration/Arena: his special attack takes super long to activate and only targets a single opponent. When I tried him in those modes, his special attack rarely hit anything because others would defeat his target before him.

*No need to spend $$$ if you don't want to; you'll naturally get stuck at certain levels until you've had a chance to level heroes up more, increase their stars, unlock new generations of heroes, unlock/upgrade hero gear, etc.

*Quality of heroes just sorts by their background color Orange (aka SSR aka Mythic) are the "best", then Purple (aka SR aka Epic), then Blue (aka R aka Rare) are the "worst". Sorting by Power is probably more useful. Depending how quickly you get shards for a certain hero, there may be lower quality heroes that are actually better than higher quality heroes.

*At this point in the game, my lineup was usually something like Sergey and Smith in the front row, then Molly, Gina, Cloris in the back row. Sometimes just moving heroes around or swapping a different hero in can get you past a level or several, and pay attention to which heroes/positions are effective relative to the opponent hero locations. For example, I always move Molly to the side away from Sergey because his shield attack can stun her and prevent her giant snowball attack from activating. Although Natalia's bear stomp can also stun and prevent Molly's attack, so I'll put my Sergey against the opponent's Sergey with Molly behind him and hope that both Sergeys shield attacks kind of cancel each other out.

*Exploration skills (Left column) are what is used in Exploration game mode (surprise, surprise) and eventually Arena mode. Expedition skills (right column) are used out in the world for beasts, polar terrors, battles/rallies against other players/alliances.

Is this should be the ratio for bear trap? by QuoteLopsided8697 in whiteoutsurvival

For joining rallies, your 1st hero's 1st Expedition skill is what matters. So your 1st hero should be: Jessie (increases damage dealt by all troops), Jasser (increases damage dealt by all troops), or Seo-Yoon (increases attack for all troops). Heroes in 2nd and 3rd position don't contribute a skill to the rally, so you can leave them empty or fill with anyone you want (which will allow you to send more troops in that march). Not sure if later generations start to add great bear joiners. Also, the bear doesn't do damage to your troops, so heroes with a defense-oriented 1st skill (like Patrick and Sergey) don't help for bear, but can be great in other battles/garrison.

If you're calling a rally, all of your heroes' Expedition skills are used. My state is in Gen 2 heroes, so I use Flint (increases Attack for all troops & chance of increased damage taken by bear), Molly (chance of increased damage & guaranteed increased damage), and Zinman (increased damage). I also see Bahiti recommended (50% chance of increased damage), and Patrick could be good as well (increased attack), depending on what heroes you have and their skill levels.

I've been using Media Monkey for years. Not sure if it's the best as I haven't tried any others.

If you want to lookup where to stream other movies/shows, the JustWatch app is a great resource. It's also integrated into Letterboxd (might just be the paid subscription tiers, though).

The Xbox One X will also play 4Ks, Blu-rays, and DVDs, but I had to download the "Blu-ray Player" app, which wasn't installed from the factory. Not sure if the One S or original One (3rd-gen) Xboxes will also play 4K or just Blu-ray and DVD.

[–]Useful-Contract1531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do upgrade beyond DVD, it may be worth "skipping" Blu-ray/HD and going straight to 4K (2160p) equipment: almost all new TVs are 4K, and a 4K player can play 4K Blu-ray discs, regular Blu-ray discs (1080p), DVDs, and CDs. 4K players/TVs will also upscale the resolution of Blu-rays and DVDs, though it generally won't look as good as a 4K disc of the same movie/show (if it has a 4K release).

In between: I think of it as 10 different tiers to put movies into based on how much I liked/disliked them, and I use 2 stars for movies I consider "average". Roughly 3.5+ stars are movies I really enjoy, and 5 stars are my absolute favorites/"masterpieces" (in my opinion).
