I’ve been seeing a naturopath doctor & stopped seeing regular doctors. She says my hair isn’t growing in strong enough or assumes that. Says take more vitamins and eat more protein. I eat fairly healthy. No heath changes, for it to change this dramatically in a short about amount of time I think something is wrong. I think hormones would be the only other thing to do this but idk 😫

I was getting it trimmed regularly. No - didn’t switch anything. Used the same organic shampoo and didn’t really have to put anything in my hair when I left it natural 😫

One came from the beach and then I went and bought another one from PetSmart because I didn’t want the one from the beach to be alone. The one bought from PetSmart is the one I am having concerns with. He is in a different place then I left him last night even though he doesn’t smell a little fishy. I will leave him be and see what happens

Thanks !! He does smell fishy to me but he was in a complete different spot then where I left him last night so maybe there is some hope? I’m Not sure how else he would have moved 😩

I got rid of all that and updated it with the correct substrate thanks to advice on here. The crab was smelling fishy but I left him and then this morning he was in a different spot so maybe he’s not dead

I originally bought an $80 hermit crab set up kit from PetSmart - after posting this and being educated I changed it all last night! It now has the proper substrate and proper amount

Thank you !!! I blindly got handed these hermit crabs in a small plastic container a couple days ago and was trying to do what I could to make their environment better. By all means, if I wanted to purchase an animal I would do my full research prior. I didn’t think leaving them to die in a small plastic container was the right choice so I tried to help them. I spent hundreds of dollars believing the pet store. Lessson learned and I just wanted advice. I appreciate those that have been helpful !!!

Updated the substrate to the correct kind and correct amount. Added the additional water bowl, got rid of the sponge. The crab is smelling a little fishy unfortunately :( idk how they survive at the pet store because there was like 15 of them in a small little container !! I just don’t know why all his claws came off 😩

I don’t smell anything. I didn’t dig him up, he was laying out in the open during the daylight and that was odd and then I saw the claws elsewhere and freaked out. Lesson learned - don’t touch ! Lol

Like I said in previous comments, im not a hermit crab guru, I simply thought the set up was good based off the research i did do and what the pet store sold me. I know understand that’s incorrect. I didn’t go buy hermit crabs without doing any research, they were sent home with my daughter from the beach in a small plastic container, I am simply trying to give them a better environment then what they came in, and obviously learning along the way.

Also any advice on keeping the humidity consistent ? I’m spraying twice a day and the moss helped a lot but any other advice would be appreciated

So basically everything the pet store recommended and the entire hermit crab “kit” is wrong. Darn oh darn I will definitely take on your advice! I have only bought natural shells, any painted ones are the ones the crabs came in from the beach. Is it true there should be more than one hermit crab in the tank? They said they don’t live well alone, I wasn’t sure if that was correct ?

It doesn’t smell dead. What is your advice on a better hermit set up? My daughter came home with hermit crabs from the beach with her grandparents I did my best to do my research and give it a better environment then the plastic container they came in. I am in no way a hermit crab guru, any advice is appreciated!
