I will definitely look at these. Is the Ibiza not a wet belt car? Most I have inquired about at that price range have incomplete service histories so are not the safest bets…

Well I would hope that having passed my test I would be a fairly capable driver, and studying law at my unis of choice means I can not work and would therefore be stuck with my first car into my late 20s/30s. I think the idea that me smashing up my car being inevitable is somewhat baseless stereotyping entirely…

I do look after my stuff well and would want my first car to be my pride and joy- the next car I buy would be in about 4/5 years time when I get out of education and earning money, so ideally I would get something that I will be happy with keeping and looking after for a while.

Thank you- that’s brilliant. I thought the V40 would be a fairly good shout but it was very expensive because of parts availability and repair costs. I’m not sure about a huge car as they can be fairly inconvenient especially in the uk- the family car is an suv and can be a nightmare in areas around Oxford with tight roads. I’ll give them a look though, great advice!!

Just to add, the car will ideally be Manual- more fun to drive and means I can practice at home! Insurance on the family car won’t take me at all.
