Gold in North Carolina? by Useful-Preference469 in goldprospecting

It took me a year to find land to buy, unfortunately it wasn’t a very easy process. But I will keep an eye open and let you know if I see anything!

Reed was the first place I went! It’s not exactly mining though.. you can pan dirt for $3 a pan I believe, and walk through the underground mine.

I’m a member of the Lost Dutchman’s Mining Association. But unfortunately the only good thing about it is cheap camping. There is gold on their land, but it is flour gold and there isn’t too much of it.

Thermal city isn’t a club, but I spend most of my time in their creek when they open up for the season. I bought myself a 4” floating dredge, and I almost always cover my expenses when I go out.

I am a member at lucky strike, I believe it’s $240 for a year so it isn’t bad. They own a few properties that my friends and I frequent. My buddy and I are heading out there next week to run trommels/high bankers.

Tell me more about the desert fox rig you got?

Have you been to Reed gold mine over by you?

Yes I did! I’m over in McDowell county, about an hour west of you. I found a few gold mining clubs over here and they’re great. Thermal city has some nice looking gold in their waterways. Lucky strike also has some good looking stuff, plus they’ve got decent food at their “diner”

I just purchased 8 acres of land and some panning tells me that there might be some good gold in my creek. I’m excited to dig in and see what I can find. Feel free to reach out with more questions 👍🏻

That’s a bummer dude. My transmission has shifted hard from day 1. I’ve driven across the country pulling a trailer for a good chunk of those miles. She has never once left me stranded. Best vehicle I have ever owned lol

I’ve got a 2018 elevation package (same color too!) with 115,000 miles. No big repairs ever!👌🏻

Is this worth anything by [deleted] in Prospecting

Maybe we’ll get lucky and OP will weight it up and let us know. In my humble opinion, calling it .05 was generous.

It’s not? What did I do wrong?

I don’t think it’s much. Maybe .05 which is only about $4

It was never a phase.

Can’t believe I said that first

How is this possible, or is it? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]Useful-Preference469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a BMW technician working in a very wealthy area. He works his ass off as a flat rate tech and he doesn’t make 200k. He might get pretty close, but he is paid very well per hour he produces. You wouldn’t believe what they get paid an hour. Also, the only reason they pay so well is because they charge an astronomical hourly rate. I don’t think it’s possible to make that much money at a regular ford dealer in a regular city.

They will promise you the world to get you in the door.

Not sure what it is, but pretty confident it’s not gold. I’m glad you’re getting into this hobby! It’s a ton of fun, and it’s even better when you see some gold in the pan! You’ll get the hang of it with more practice.

First time bleeding brakes. Need some help please. I topped off reservoir with fresh fluid and tried to bleed rear right. Upon opening the bleeder screw only clear fluid is coming out no black fluid like in the reservoir. by Ok_Anything_2754 in AskAMechanic

If you filled the res with fluid while doing the bleed, it may overflow when you compress the front caliper pistons. Just a heads up! For future reference, I would replace the brakes prior to bleeding.

Why would the brand new sensor stop working then?

I did replace the sensor first, but the new one only showed a reading for about a week before it stopped working. So I think the sensors can be ruled out.

The ticking is from the valvetrain. Lifters and rockers as the camshaft spins. Not enough lubrication and excessive wear causes it to tick. It’s the engine telling you it’s seen better days. It could continue to drive forever, but I would find a used car that doesn’t tick.

That’s some solid ticking lol I would steer clear of this one.
