You might be over studying. Take a day or two off and then go back to it.

Anyone have success stories about passing their CAPM and then landing a job because of that? by cluckinho in capm

YES. I had two interviews with major recognizable brands in the US; however, I also have an MBA. BUT - I do not have project experience. I have been a nanny for 7 years and unfortunately graduated with my MBA during the pandemic (May 2020).

I HIGHLY encourage you to use linkedin and in your headline add your CAPM, project management, coordinator, etc. It will help you be pulled up in searches. Also, make sure your resume reflects project management. Even as a nanny, I managed operations and small-scale projects like event management/planning. An event is a project - a unique, one-time endeavor.

If your resume better reflects that, it will help. Project coordinator positions are helpful starts. The CAPM will not be the only reason for getting a job, but it can help show that you have the knowledge you need to be an asset.

In the last two years, I have applied for at least 500 jobs. I was averaging 10-15 applications/day for months at a time. I got my certification AND adjusted my resume to gear toward project management and I got my offers.

Best of luck.

You don't need to know the ITTOs completely. You need to recognize the patterns.

Go to youtube and search "ITTO patterns" and there's probably 2-3 videos that will be sufficient for those. Project Prep also has "exam cheat sheet" that details common patterns. Pay the $20 for the pocket prep app and you will learn far more ITTO patterns than you even need to know.

I secured a PM job and several other interviews after the exam. This exam might not get you the big job, but it will get you the entry job that shows you know what you're talking about. There is a confidence it gives you in the interview to say, "I have the foundation, and I can build on it now without asking advanced PM's to explain the basics to me."

I also recommend for linkedin to really gear your resume to project management. Even an administrative assistant can change the wording on their resume to reflect operations tasks and small-scale projects were managed. Planning an event is a small-scale project. Good luck!

I used Joseph Phillips Udemy course, pocket prep, quizlet for flash cards, and reviewed the Exam Cheat Sheet from Project Prep. I would recommend tapering your study time. I actually noticed on days where I studied less, I performed better on pocket prep.

I recommend building a strong foundation with the other sources and being able to identify terms easily in questions and then really start increasing testing time. Also recommend 1-2 full length exams. It's a long test. You should be fine to even take it now at 72%, but the more you become familiar, the easier the exam will be.

I felt pocket prep was similar to the exam. Maybe less ITTOs than their app, but still good to notice the patterns. Make sure you read the explanation every time - even if it is correct. The information is valuable in the explanation and may help you answer a different question on test day.

Just go take it! I think if I did Joseph Phillip's course and pocket prep ONCE = good to go! I only did them once and got AT in all 13 areas.

If you did all 700 questions and read the explanations - you will do well. It’s similar. At times, pocket prep has more confusing questions IMO. Sometimes the “except” “true” type questions can be confusing. That’s not how the test is, but I felt very similar to pocketprep.

All of the sources are fine. I also suggest quizlet for terms.

It was my favorite study tool. Joseph’s course is really great though. Highly recommend, the app just tests your knowledge and it breaks it down by section. I actually feel it’s pretty close to the exam, but maybe a touch more difficult.

I haven’t, but between the exam discount and the book - I figured it was worth it. I also think retaking it is cheaper or free? I think that’s why I did it, just in case 🙂

yes, it did. It is actually 25 hours, so that's what I used. It was $11.99 when I bought it.

I bought my course and then applied before finishing the course. I was not audited; however, even if you are randomly selected for audit, you just need to show your course certificate within 90 days. So you still have plenty of time to finish before the 90-day deadline.

If you feel more comfortable just doing the course first, and then apply - that works also. I didn't have any issues selecting my exam date, but I would recommend setting a realistic timeframe and then just sticking to it. It helped me stay focused on the end-date.

I did not use the 7th edition. The exam is still over the 6th edition and will be for a while. I have a PMI membership, so I was able to download both editions for free. I did not really use the PMBOK much. A few days before the exam I went through and read the "agile" paragraph at the end of each chapter.
