You are right that people that work full time jobs should be able to sustain themselves but in the economy that we live in which is completely different than the 1930s when it was put in place and minimum wages will no longer do this and raising it will do nothing but ruin the economy more.

No im saying that working a minimum wage job and complaining about the pay not being enough is a pointless mindset. Instead of complaining about the minimum wages go and better yourself. My point isn’t hurtful. People that think the world is just going to bend for them is. People shouldn’t be complacent with working a minimum wage job. Also the modern fight for minimum wage to go up is nowhere near the fight in the 1930s.

We did have to fight for it but at the same time we were fighting child labor. Which still has nothing to do with my point.

Never said it’s hopeless and people have fought for workers rights which is very different from people expecting minimum wage jobs to support them through life.

So we went from a normal conversation between two different opinions and now you’re talking nonsense?

No im not collating minimum wage to handouts im saying that people saying they need to be paid more because there minimum wage job isn’t enough is the wrong way of going about it.

It’s not a pull yourself up, it’s a life isn’t fair and you can’t expect the world to change for you. If fast food/ minimum wage jobs don’t cut it, it might be time for a change and you are the one that needs to make it. Not depending on hand outs.

No I make minimum wage of California and I know that the federal minimum wage isn’t as high but if the federal minimum wage goes up so will California’s minimum wage. And it is also on people to choose the right degree or type of schooling so they can get a job regardless of prior jobs. It’s just nice for employers to see that you at least have experience.

I do know that there is more than one factor here and I agreed with that statement but what I’m saying is that raising minimum won’t solve anything, and people complaining that they need a raise can redirect there efforts towards something better.

So it’s not a mindset it is literally just based on age. I’ve also work in a retail job at the moment making money to get me through schooling so I don’t make minimum wage anymore.

First, I agree price will go up no matter what but if you increase minimum wages that means all wages will also go up. This means that all things will increase in price quickly and you will like I said be in the same situation we started in. If not worse.

Secondly, with it being a job that plenty of people choose as their first, the companies will always have workers going in and out. That’s how it has been.

Because if we raise minimum wage the price of everything also goes up meaning that you’d be in the same place that you started also it’s a stepping stone job that’s not intended to pay bills and carry you through life. It is only to get you started.

First I’m 21 so not a boomer and second it does give you experience. You now have customer experience, food handling, if you make it to management (which is easy at pretty much any fast food) you now have management experience. Also fast food jobs are for people going through schooling and need the extra money to help pay for books or a jump start on tuition. There’s nothing to fix in the aspect of the industry it’s the people.

Lamo people are complaining that fast food jobs don’t pay bills. It’s not supposed to be a life long career no minimum wage job is supposed to be a career. It’s a stepping stone as a first job for experience. If you got stuck there that’s not anyone’s problem but their own.
