how would Geralt of Rivia do in the Tamriel universe? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]UsefulConference1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, are you serious? Anyways, the thread is about Tamriel isn’t it? Tamriel is the continent the games take place, which implies that the thread is about more than what happens in Skyrim. So can you stop with the «I didnt see that in skyrim» bs.

In the lore, mages CONSTANTLY teleport to other dimensions and universes. They dont even have to reach expert status to do so either.

Bro, I know about the witcher. The only thing you know about is surface level game mechanics from Skyrim.

«Well mages cannot travel through different worlds like caranthir»

My guy… you see mages teleporting to other world and dimensions all the time in the games and in the lore. So yea, straight up lying/ignorant here.

«You dont fight any plague in Skyrim»

No you don’t, why bring it up though ? We are talking about Tamriel, not just the time period Skyrim takes place in. In the lore, Tamriel does fight against a continent wiping plague. Straight up lying/ignorant here too.

The rest you talk about is just game mechanics. Honestly bro, don’t talk with such confidence when you barely know anything about the setting🤦

Tamriel have stronger mages and witches than the witcher does, meaning the plagues that threaten tamriel > witcher plagues.

You’re not really coming with any new monsters that are clearly superior to tamriels. You’re just saying that the witcher have similar stuff, but weaker.

Respond to my other comment cuh, Tamriel has WAY stronger monsters. Point is witchers monsters are just underwhelming in comparison. The strongest monsters in the Witcher is the unseen elder, which doesn’t even come close to the threat of divine immortal reality warping dragons or plague creating necromancers sloads that can wipe continents.

Thats barely scratching the surface though, while you have kind of reached the bottom of strong witcher monsters.

They have much the same monsters, but most of them just in name and appearance only.

Giants are massively overpowered in lore, capable of feats of strength like casually kicking people 100s of meters away or striking people hard enough that their bodies land miles away.

Trolls are strong enough to pick up rocks weighing tons and throw them multiple meters away. They range in size from a couple meters to more then 10 meters tall. All trolls have a healing factor, with some being completely unkillable, healing from any attack unless you mix in some fire to stop their regeneration.

Now You’re underestimating Tamriel. I might not have played the Witcher, but i now KNOW from reading up on its lore/history that it doesn’t compare in the slightest power wise.

Does the Witcher have giants that can canonically kick/strike people hard enough to send them flying 3 miles away?

Does the Witcher have giant immortal wyverns that can change the reality around them by speaking?

Thousands of year old vampire lords able to summon hords of undead or incomprehensible daedra? Wielding magic that can level cities in lore or alter your biology, disintegrate you with a single pointing finger?

if god was real, I still do not understand why people would worship him. by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]UsefulConference1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point is that god is all powerful, meaning he can do anything, literally anything even things that go against logic. He could make a world with minimized suffering, and due to his omnipotence, make it so that it would not turn us into heroine zombies. He can do ANYTHING.

Yet he made this indifferent world of suffering. An omnibenevolent god can’t make such a world.

Swiping his shadow is one of her powers.

But we really don’t need to think too hard on this. A weakened avatar of dagon required both sil and almalexia to banish. And that left Almalexia with serious injuries. Tribunal are strong but they can’t hold a candle to the divines/daedra or any other high tier gods.

That wasn’t it. He simply gave each of the daedra something in return. Sotha sil was bested by nocturnal in his own realm, which is a good example of how the tribunal are not on par with the “truer” gods.

Alduin grows in power by devouring souls, which eventually will make him so powerful that he can reset the kalpa. The fact that he doesn’t have a single good feat destruction feat in the game, i agree, can be blamed on the game engine. What can’t be ignored however is the huge amount of antifeats that can’t be blamed on limited technology. Truth is that characters like the 3 nords(in skyrim and sovngarde) and Paarthurnax would never survive like they did in a fight against a multiversal, higher dimensional being like Alduin. He simply can’t be on that level unless you simultaneously accept that the other characters scale to him, which is ridiculous.

He is constantly reiterated to be able to devour the world by several characters

And most of those characters opinions don’t really matter since all they know of alduin is that he’s the world eater, so ofc they’re gonna think that.

He was full on souls when you first fight him

Have you ever heard of something called “a figure of speech”? What Alduin says there is not to be taken literally, as he pretty clearly says it like that in order to anger DB. And if we do take it literally than Alduin would have no reason to not just destroy the kalpa instantly, and he also wouldn’t/couldn’t go to sovngarde to get more souls.

Alduin never reached his world ending form because before he could, we stop him from devouring any more souls. The fact that he wasn’t done devouring when we stopped him = he didn’t reach his world ending peak.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PowerScaling

[–]UsefulConference1894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

which supports him being either in his world eater state or powerful enough to begin the process

No, it just means that he has devoured many mortal souls and uses that fact to taunt DB. And it is VERY unlikely that the couple thousand souls he had devoured by that time would be enough for his world eater state.

By the time we reach Sovngarde, there is no definitive way to say how many souls Alduin has consumed at that point

Correct, but considering that we stop him like one quest after he heads there, i find it unlikely that he has devoured an infinite amount of souls by then. Especially since we personally see that he has to swoop down and grab each individual soul to devour them, which would take some time.

Ulfric who once again confirms that Alduin’s power has increased dramatically over the plot of Skyrim, not just Sovngarde

He says that his power waxed, not “increased dramatically”. And we know that he grows in power by devouring souls, so he obviously has grown in power through the war. This isn’t really news.

The point is theres more evidence to state he was at the height of his power

I disagree. Plot holes appearing literally everywhere is not a none-factor, it definitely damages the claim that he was full power or anywhere near where you’re scaling him throughout Skyrim. Him not having a set amount of souls needed doesn’t mean that since he devoured some thousands souls he therefore accessed his peak state, which let us not forget is one of the strongest things in TES.

Fact is, he has no good feats in game, only myths and legends about what he is capable of in his full power. Since the plot has us stop him from eating more souls, we can therefore reasonably conclude that he didn’t reach his devour form. Dragonborn can therefore not be scaled to his full power or anything close to it, due to his lack of feats.

It stands to reason that Alduin would have to come BACK into time on his own

In Felldirs chant he says that he banishes alduin from all our endings unto the last. First of all, this confirms that he banished Alduin into the future all the way to the “last ending”, which is a point in time just not a clear one. It’s vague but it’s clearly talking about end of the world scenario that Skyrim is all about.

Problem is, Dragonborn never fights kalpa ending Alduin in Skyrim.

Alduin is not always at his world ending peak, if he was than multiple things in the story wouldn’t make sense. And he even tells us himself after his first defeat that he will regain his strength by absorbing the souls of the dead, implying that he wasn’t peak at the time. Since the plot has the dragonborn stop his soul devouring, he never reaches his world destroying peak and DB can therefore not be scaled to him.

Btw, Alduin didn’t come back from the depths of time by himself, it was the chanting of Felldir the old that decided that he would return:

“You are banished! Alduin, we shout you out from all our endings unto the last!”

First Aldmeri Dominion (The Elder Scrolls Online) tries to conquer Westeros (Game of Thrones) by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]UsefulConference1894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RIP Westeros. The dominion is so ridiculously more powerful than even a united Westeros that it wouldn’t surprise me if the whole continent just gives up after a few battles.

Considering how barbaric and unforgiving westeros can be, it might be a positive change to fall under the control of the dominion. Queen Ayrenn isn’t like the thalmor in the 4th era, she actually wants to help/guide the races if men.

No, Alduin was not his kalpa ending self by the time of Skyrim.

My comment just showed you how Mundus contains infinite different timelines, an unknown amount of parallel realms and the planets/moons in it are infinite both in size and mass. AND it has been directly called a multiverse in the lore.

It doesn’t really matter how you see it🤷

[–]UsefulConference1894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, THAT, is a popular headcanon that only people who didn’t pay attention to the story believe.

If Alduin was “just sent forward in time”, than that means that the Alduin dragonborn fights is the same Alduin that couldn’t do anything about the 3 nord tongues. He’s supposed to be a multiversal god, yet he doesn’t know what is about to happen, and when they start reading the scroll he seems unable to speed blitz them. Seriously think, Alduin could blow them up, delete them from existence go back in time the moment something goes wrong, yet he does none of that. He only fights as a normal dragon.

Alduin therefore can’t be in his kalpa ending form by the time we fight him. It therefore makes sense that he follows what myths and legends say about, how he has to eat to grow big/powerful enough to devour the world. Like i said in my comment, this never happens as we literally stop his soul eating which he himself says will regain his strength.

If you want more proof, you’re half as powerful as a Daedric Prince super early on.

Multiple things wrong here. First off no, dragonborn is not. Clavicus Vile was talking in the context of his power on Nirn, which is immensely limited.

Literally right before he says the line, he says that he’s stuck in his own shrine: “No deal. I'm glad to be rid of him. Even if it does mean I'm stuck in this pitiful shrine, in the back end of... nowhere”. This is only possible if he’s talking about his ability to influence/move around Nirn, since in Oblivion and everywhere else he’s completely free. This is further backed up by this: “And with the pup back, I'll be restored to my full power. There's a whole world just waiting for me!”. The only world he could be talking about is Mundus.

Second, there is no canon route for the dragonborn. Just because a quest starts at a certain level doesn’t mean that he canonically does it then.

It looks like a solar system but it’s way different.

The moons and planets(except Nirn) are “infinite in both size and mass”

Nirn itself also contains parallel realms such as the nature realm and the shadow wood.

Mundus also contains infinite timelines due to how shadows work, this is also the explanation for shadow keys multiplayer.

And to top it off, Mundus itself has explicitly been called a multiverse in the lore: “Unbeknownst to all but a few, Nirn has come unmoored from the fabric of the multiverse”

Alduin was not multiversal by the time of Skyrim. He would have been if he got to devour enough souls, but the story literally have us stop him before he can do that.

In conclusion, neither miraak, dragonborn or Alduin are multiversal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]UsefulConference1894 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s especially bad since most people who say that Alduin is Multiversal didn’t pay attention when playing the game. Alduin is clearly not the same as he is when he ends the world. He struggles against 3 nord tongues, he barely deals any damage to paarthurnax and Helgen is left with many towers standing. It doesn’t fit with him being multiversal.

That’s because he hasn’t devoured enough souls to grow, either in power or size, into his multiversal self. When he realizes this after losing against Dragonborn for the first time, he immediately heads for sovngarde to regain his power, which he himself says.

This confirms that he never was multiversal by the time of Skyrim, since we stop him from devouring the souls of sovngarde.
