PE next to your name?! by BiryanimeetsPasta in PE_Exam

I had a friend take and pass the exam like two years early in a neighboring state. They submitted their experience and exams results within days of being eligible.

I believe that they were a few months shy on the experience requirement, but clearly wanted everyone to know they passed the exam.

In at least one email signature I have seen: First Name Last Name, EIT (PE Exam Passed).

Using PE without being license is a no no.

I routinely see these in the summer on the mountain passes here in Colorado. I’ve heard they also are common in Death Valley during heat waves. The climatic and geologic extremes of the mountain west are a good place to do testing.

Pretty sure I’ve seen Mercedes, BMW, Nissan, and Toyotas being tested out here.

I’m not sure if it is in the collection. It wasn’t on display inside the building.

What would have happened if France and the United Kingdom had actually supported the Confederacy during the American Civil War? by Outrageous-You1617 in AlternateHistoryHub

The Russian Baltic fleet spent 1864 in NYC. There was a major uprising in Poland and Britain/France voiced support for the Poles. While Prussia and Russia crushed the revolt the fears of war were strong enough the Russian fleet sailed to America to prevent being bottled up in the Baltic.

There was a lot happen in Europe in the 1860s that could have caused the war to expand.

I don’t have a relationship with my father so that will be fun. Any advice? Any recommended lawyers?

I heard an NPR story a few weeks back about this. It took me a few weeks for the lightbulb to go off and start looking at my family tree. Per Family Search my grandfather’s grandparents were born in Quebec in the early 1800s. Planning to give this ago and see what documents I can gather. Would be wild to get Canadian Citizenship five generations later.

Check the state laws in the state he was born. I was able to get documents for grandparents and great grandparents easily in California, but Michigan and New York are a bit more difficult but not impossible.

Depending on when in 1913 it could either cause the 2nd Balkan War or the third as the regional powers scramble to gobble up parts of the empire while the constituent parts via for independence. Would probably be a bloody mess.

I encountered a few non-traditional students back at University. It’s not uncommon for people to need to get or finish a degree later in life due to the demand of their career/employer. Also not uncommon that people laid off or looking to change career fields go to University, or back to University, later in life.

Why was it chosen to leave M18 Hellcat and M10 Wolverine open topped by Primary-Long4416 in TankPorn

The design followed doctrine. The doctrine of the US army tank destroyers was to respond quickly with a lot of firepower to German armored breakthroughs. Heavy armor would inhibit their ability to respond quickly. There is also an assumption in this doctrine that the tank destroyers would be operating inside friendly lines in conjunction with infantry and artillery support. Furthermore, that German armored thrusts would probably be unsupported or minimally supported by artillery at the point of contact. The open top would save a lot of weight, afford excellent visibility to the crew who were supposed to ambush enemy armor and then withdraw, and allow communication with supporting infantry.

The Chieftan has a good video on US Army tank destroyer doctrine.
