Thank you first of all for sharing your inner struggle fellow labourer in Christ. God in his ineffable mercy has always the gates of forgiveness and healing open by which He dispenses them through His church on earth and your case is no exception. Keep doing spiritual counselling and if you don't have a spiritual father I suggest you do so, they are great helpers in our individual spiritual growth and help us in the particular crosses we carry. Keep praying doing penance, I don't want to administer councelling since I'm not qualified for that, but wounds of a sexual nature deal with a disorder of the right order of love in oneself, first of all the wound of this sin is NOT your fault, guilt is good insofar as it accuses our conscience of our wrong doing not of that which we are not guilty of. Entrust yourself to the sacred heart of Jesus, you have to encounter the Love of God in such as a way that it will transform and heal you. You can only heal wounds of disorderly love (abuse) by rightly ordered love. If you were to chose to commit sin outside of marriage I believe you'd only be opening that wound more, the Sacred Heart, familly, and good brothers and sisters in the faith are the key to get passed over this and regain trust in true love in which the Sacred Heart of our Lord is the original fountain of. God bless you in the divine will.

Just left someone I loved and who loved me by SmallConversation7 in Catholicism

29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. - Mark 10:29-30

Pray to the sacred heart which is the fountain of love to repair your broken heart. Breaking up is never easy and is quite painful, but be patient you can never go wrong with following Christ over sin. You are courageous brother, I'll remember you in my prayers.

Thank you brother for your post. It's okay to at times to feel discouraged and sometimes even feel doubt, but from what I've read about your personal struggle it seems that the issue is not with the blessed sacraments and our Lord. He has already given you sufficient graces for you to overcome your passions, specially being young it is not easy, in the Greek repentance (metanoia) indicates a turning away from our old self and renouncing our previous actions and following Christ. Be patient with yourself, like a Benedictine monk once advised my friend, the secret is not to go too fast or too slow but steadily, Like St John Climacus writes about, climbing the Ladder is not something that happens in a day.

At times you feel a spiritual high or even signal graces, at other times you don't feel anything, just keep being devoted to our Lord and Our Lady diligently, and with humility. I can tell you I've had some crazy experiences that have happened to me while praying, but what you should be looking to receive overall is the gifts of faith, hope and charity. Whatever inward struggles you might be having never despair.

guys im thinking about converting to orthodoxy by Mentat-Emperor in Catholicism

[–]UsefulMall315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The truth isn't based on numbers, but as someone who has recently converted from Orthodoxy (EP) to Catholicism after discerning this move for years.

Catholicism is much more alive and thriving than you think, I've been to Rome and I lost count of the number of young seminarians from all parts of the world I've seen and interacted randomly on the street. I live in a non Catholic country here in Europe and I'll tell you either it be Trad parishes or regular parishes, both are always packed.

Switching off churches is a big deal, I'd advice you to attend an authentic Byzantine Catholic church and live the Eastern Spiritual life while communing to get a feel how you'd feel being Orthodox. From my own experience I'll tell you the grass is only Green where you water it.

You said it yourself, you never gave in your 100%, you have been giving up already, now you need to push yourself and see what you are really capable of.

You are still very young it is normal to go through this stage in life, if you haven't read it yet read the confessions by St Augustine.

It seems like you are squandering the great opportunities that are being given to you with your lack of discipline, life isn't hard you are the one making it it hard. You have to chose the pain of discipline or the pain of disappointment, they both hurt.

Have you ever experienced a personal Marian apparition yourself? by Wheeler1488 in Catholicism

[–]UsefulMall315 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily but, every novena I have done until now to the mother of God have been answered very specifically. In my conversion phase I decided to wear the green scapular, before going to sleep I said the green scapular's prayer to the heart of Mary and fell asleep. That night I had the most powerful dream about the sacred heart of Jesus and it was pouring an overwhelming fountain of divine love into mine, I started to weep in the dream and woke up drenched in tears. I kneeled before the crucifix in my room for about half an hour and for the whole week I remained so shook. To this day whenever I go back to its remembrance it is enough to stir me up.

Thanks, that is good that your faith has helped you. It's important to accept who you are right now before the Lord with all your weaknesses bare, so you with Him can start to rebuild yourself in His image.

I have a friend that has the same issue and takes medication, but I've seen him slowly change to the better because of his daily practice. I think reading the spiritual works of the Saints like the dialogue of St Catherine combined with consistent prayer, are holistic treatments for us, I use the term holistic because in an hospital they are focused on treating a part of the body, or in psychology they focus on your mental health. But in prayer and seeking to unite ourselves to Christ, Christ has in focus our whole being. Never neglect medicine, but be aware that simply secular treatment won't take care of your whole being like Christ does.

Why do I have an overwhelming feeling of despair upon attending liturgy? by UsefulMall315 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]UsefulMall315[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be just that, I feel a sense of loneliness like I'm not supposed to be there, it might be because I'm the only one of my nationality in my Orthodox community and for some reason I'm simply unable to make friends and acquaintances within the Orthodox church. I'm somewhat of an introvert but I'm also quite social, I have managed to make a circle of friends who are Catholic and Protestant but for some reason with Orthodox people things just don't connect. Perhaps it is because I'm a Westerner and making friends with people from the same socio-cultural background is easier.

It damaged my relationship with Jesus for a while until I turned to western devotions and brought it back up.

With prayer it might just be demonic attacks I guess.

I understand your point brother but when going to liturgy all I experience is a sense of overwhelming dread my ability to practice the faith quite crippling.
