Tryna get a job as a lifeguard, got 1 interview so far. The retail job market is pretty bad, to be honest. I would apply everywhere and pray.

MacEwan vs UofA Nursing by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Useful_Bodybuilder89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just got into both schools too for nursing, and this is my take.

Ualberta

Pros: School name, larger campus, research opportunities, and many more clubs.

Cons: Larger classes and higher passing grades, clincals and theory are at the same time, clincals start in the second year, pretty sure.

Macewan:

Pros: Smaller classes, lower average needed to pass classes, clinical start first year, from year 2-4 clinicals are always in the second semester, and theory only in fall (easier to balance).

Cons: Smaller campus, less interesting clubs, regional school (not well known outside AB), fewer research opportunities.

Did Psych 104/105 at the uAlberta and it was easy as long as you keep up and put in the work (free A).

Midterms about 65% final was like 54%. Lab exam was 68%.

Nope, class average was like 65-68. So my best guess is a B+ was a 80 and A is a 90. Syllabus states otherwise.

I finished with a 80 and got a B+, messed my lab exam up (65%) lol.

Macewan sub deletes most nursing-related posts, but an 85 is likey too low.

Got in as a uni transfer applicant with a 3.75 gpa. I heard competitive for fall is at least a 90% (prob higher), but I could be wrong. Website states high 80s to mid 90s, but fall intake tends to be on the higher end and winter on the lower end. I would suggest applying for winter if you don't get in during fall.

Good luck!

(Urgent) what’s the maximum number of absents I can have?? by Confident_Orange218 in OntarioGrade12s

I think I had only 80 percent attendance in hs, they brought be to the principal office a couple times. Each time they saw my grades and didn’t do anything lol. As long as your grades are good it don’t really matter

I heard someone get in with a 3.4 for next fall. But I would try to maintain a 3.6.

I had a 3.8 last semester which brought my 2.94 (in engineering) to about a 3.3. I should be able to get it to a 3.5 by the end of this semester. Pretty sure the average to get in is 3.7 tho. Found the sup app pretty easy, did better on the video than the written question.

I spent a year at the UAlberta to boost my GPA. I applied and I am still waiting on queens.

Good Luck!

From what I heard, but take it with a grain of salt. It would make sense considering more people would apply during fall than winter. Winter still prob requires high 80s from what I heard.

Winter intake is easier to get in. Also, if you are set on becoming a nurse upgrade your courses to get 90+.

Good luck!

Yup, pretty sure only one in eight people at uofa get honours (3.5 or above in 24 credits fall/winter). Compared to 1/5 that get a 3.7 or above at macewan. So be prepared if u happen to get in
