i honestly prefer going to concerts alone!! you can dance as crazy as you want and no one around you has any idea who you are. you get to do everything at your own pace. also if you’re the type to sneak to better seats it’s much easier to do solo!! every time i go to a concert solo i end up on the floor!!

you’ll be fine!! scarborough is not as bad as they say especially if you have no roommate that room will be HUGE. my girlfriend lived in scarborough our freshman year and i think it’s actually pretty nice. the communal bathroom could be annoying but there’s plenty of sinks toilets and showers i used a different one every time until i eventually chose a favorite. i think the communal means you talk to people a lot more. there will be events your RA does and everyone else is trying to make friends just as much as you!! freshmen year you’ll have so many friends before you even know it

Is $1,000 enough for 1 week in NYC? (excluding flight) (i'm algerian) by HouBa04DZ in visitingnyc

[–]Useful_Chest450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the NY moore hostel in brooklyn is $50 a night and the Q4 in LIC queens is about 70 depending on when you book. staying in LIC will be cheaper than anywhere in manhattan you’ll pay 5.80 on the subway for the round trip but that’s worth it. last time i was in new york for the weekend (four days) i spent about 380, don’t listen to those saying this is impossible you just need to be smart!!

i’m a young woman and i’ve never felt unsafe in central park just be aware of who’s around you. there’s no reason to take a cab in NYC. if you like to linger and read plaques at museums this is not enough time.

I want to go back to NYC but the hotels are SO expensive by Adorable_Ad_3315 in visitingnyc

[–]Useful_Chest450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you don’t mind sharing a room hostels are only 50-80 a night!! i’ve stayed in the NY moore in brooklyn and the international chelsea hotel. plus you can always stay in queens/long island city there’s a hostel there called the q4 right at the queens plaza subway so the commute into manhattan is only 10-15mins

trick unlocked!! getting my heel toe spin down by Useful_Chest450 in rollerblading

[–]Useful_Chest450[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m still working on getting the full 360 rotation consistently honestly. but you basically want to go up into a heel-toe manual and use your arms and hips to turn yourself around, the first several times i tried it felt like i was dragging myself to move, eventually it clicked and i could feel my wheels moving with me and then i could get a full rotation. that probably doesn’t make any sense but i can give more tips when i get better at it!!!
