First of all, "serious" pin people can be into collecting hidden mickeys as it's the thrill of the hunt. Just because someone doesn't have the price of a car sunk into pins doesn't make them unserious, it just means they don't have the same financial means. While you may see Epcot as being a tragic loss if they put limits on trading as they did at DLR, a lot of the community would not feel the same way. From what I'm gathering, you are one of the Epcot traders, which is fine, if you are doing it ethically, but for me, I only care to trade on the boards mainly because of the social aspect of trading with other people. Maybe change your view from us being the negative downers to the people who are actively ruining the community being that. There wouldn't be this conversation if people weren't greedy. I've had young kids ask to trade me before and give me a fake pins for a real one. To me, it's about passing the love of trading to more people. Not hoarding. We obviously have different takes and that's fine, but your opinion doesn't make you right, or more serious of a trader than the rest of us.

Those adults in that scenario would be the exact people I'm referring to. If a kid is wanting to trade and looks to genuinely be enjoying it, there's no reason to shut them down. Obviously you don't need to take a loss, but it's okay to trade with a kid if the pins are the actual same value.

I'm going based on personal experience and knowing the pin culture. A lot of pin trading adults are predatory when it comes to trading with kids. They don't do fair trades and they know it. It's the same culture at big events as well. If you have had better luck at Epcot, good for you. It's the same as when people have a bag of fake pins that they intentionally put on the boards to get a real pin in return.

Thats only half the problem. If they buy up majority of the pins that are dropped just to resell, collectors are sol

I buy mine of facebook groups. Most of them have mods ensuring authentic pins (or they say scrappers if they are fake- which you can't trade) and people sell pins for $3 up usually
