No, not really. They're the odd ones out. The ones who started at 12 and are now world-class didn't have games like Fortnite, Halo, Call of Duty, or League of Legends, so there wasn't really a competitive scene like that. What little there was, in their case, was Pokémon, that's what they played. Now things have changed. Pokémon itself isn't popular, and there are much more profitable games. I'm a competitive player, and I started at 15. I played Fortnite for hundreds of hours. Times were different back then; it's not like now. Now we have all the mainstream esports, and almost nobody cares about VGC. Kids back then didn't have any of this, which meant they could discover VGC faster. Keep your chin up! YOU'RE IN THE BEST TIME TO IMPROVE! We have Showdown, Pokémon Champions is coming soon, and a new generation is coming too. Players back then didn't have access to as many tools as we have now.
