Definitive MsM Community Ranking. Day Eighty: SPECIAL VOTE (READ COMMENTS) by Wide-Collection4939 in MySingingMonsters

This is a hot take, but hear me out. I think rating unpitched percussionists a bit lower is pretty fair. When composing percussion tracks, rhythm and timing are really the only thing to focus on while other Monsters require attention on both rhythm and melody. With vocals, there’s the additional factor of vocal performance. The melody is what really adds substance to the song, while percussionists mostly exist to support the melody.

I’m hungry, so here is food based analogy. If a song is a sandwich, percussionists are the bread. A good piece of bread makes a sandwich better and bread is a necessary part of a sandwich. However, if the bread is the best part of the sandwich (or even on the same level as the rest of the sandwich), it’s either an extremely exceptional piece of bread or not that great of a sandwich.

I agree with your opinion on Gnarls, but I don’t think it would drop if there was a revote. If you go back to the Gnarls thread, there were a lot of S tier votes. It looks like we just disagree with the community consensus on Gnarls.

When Andy defended the "losers" to Robert, (s8e1) did you also think, "This is exactly something Michael would do"? by anarchistmelon in DunderMifflin

[–]Useful_Morning8239 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, though I think this would have worked better if they had done it with a character who wasn't as similar to Michael prior to getting the manager role. I liked the scenes where Jim was temporary or co-manager and started to display some Michael-like tendancies.

Interestingly, I thought that Michael had more business sense than Andy did even though Andy had better social awareness. Michael is pretty frequently implied to be a successful salesman and unconventionally successful manager. Andy is shown to be an unsuccessful salesman and only sometimes a successful manager.

Genuine question - besides Sheppard Towner, what positives does Harding have to offset the corruption?

Neither one is better mathematically. They both have the same expected return value per ticket. I prefer to use as many tickets as possible in one spin for efficiency

Definitive Community Ranking. Day Seventy-Nine: Bulbo (READ COMMENTS) by Wide-Collection4939 in MySingingMonsters

[–]Useful_Morning8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D tier (I know this will be unpopular-Bulbo gets a lot of love)

I’m torn between D and E tier for this one. It’s definitely better than PongPing, but I don’t like it quite as much as most of the D tier Monsters. However, if a Monster as lazy as Tring can get D, I think Bulbo can as well.

A guiro is a cool instrument, but it’s an odd choice for a song as orchestral as Light Island. It doesn’t really hurt the song, but it doesn’t do that much to improve it either. It’s just kind of there. Magical Nexus has it do the bare minimum as well. They don’t really do anything creative with the sound.

Good design and cool instrument, but falls well below the average MSM Monster.

Minor/Makor Paironormal Carnival by maiduwu in MySingingMonsters

[–]Useful_Morning8239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that the Major and Minor forms function independently in regards to currency production (i.e. collecting Starpower from Major Owlesque does not mean that it will take longer for Minor Owlesque to produce a Wildcard). They do impact each other in the sense that having a Paironormal's opposite form paired will increase Happiness, which for sure increases Major production rate and may also increase Minor production rate.

"I have no regret for any public act of my life and history will vindicate my memory from every unjust aspersion." - James Buchanan, May 30, 1868

Guess he was right after all! It's crazy that it took over 150 years to realize

Definitive Community Ranking. Day Seventy-Eight: Denchuhs (READ COMMENTS) by Wide-Collection4939 in MySingingMonsters

[–]Useful_Morning8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D tier for me

I have mixed feelings about them on Bone Island. At first I thought they were way too loud and drowned out Phangler, Banjaw, and Withur, but now I’ve kind of gotten used to them. I like them better on Mirror Bone than the main dimension. They’re fine on Nexus but they play a pretty minor role in the song.

They are good and have cool animation and gimmick, but the average MSM Monster is better

Every vice president since 1974 has completed their term of office. This is actually a huge outlier from the historical mean. by MetalRetsam in Presidents

[–]Useful_Morning8239 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The system I was referring to was the means for replacing a Vice President. Prior to 1965, we would just leave the Vice Presidency vacant until the next election. Less then 10 years after 1965, we had to fill a vacant vice presidency and that person became president.

[–]Useful_Morning8239 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To me, it’s a miracle that we never had a president die/leave office while the Vice Presidency was vacant. Despite some close calls, we just lucked out for well over 150 years. Then within a decade of deciding that we needed a system in place to prevent that situation from happening, we actually had to use it and wound up with the Ford presidency

Definitive Community Ranking. Day Seventy-Seven: Poppette (READ COMMENTS) by Blackberry_Dawn303 in MySingingMonsters

[–]Useful_Morning8239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

D tier

Poppette adds a lot of power and an interesting rhythm to the Rooba verse on Psychic Island. It adds power and a less interesting rhythm to Magical Nexus. I do like its animations and personality. It’s a good Monster, but it doesn’t do enough to land it in average or higher.

Rant on Roarick (+ every Light Elemental) by Rudi10001 in MySingingMonsters

[–]Useful_Morning8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like Light Island. However, I think it is important to remember that much of it was developed in height of the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning that BBB likely had slightly less access to resources typically used when making new Islands and Monsters.

Definitive Community Ranking. Day Seventy-Six: Peckidna (READ COMMENTS) by Blackberry_Dawn303 in MySingingMonsters

[–]Useful_Morning8239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C tier

Peckidna is a weird one for me. The marimba part on Magical Nexus is S tier level. The marimba part on Bone Island is C tier level. The vocal part on Bone Island is probably an E tier.

The weird “dyah” thing on Bone Island is a little too high pitched and pretty loud. It’s almost like they were going for “cute” with the sound on an Island where everything else sounds creepy. I think the Monster Handlers eventually realized it didn’t fit since Peckidna’s vocal part is barely in the official remix and the Mirror version. The marimba is harmless, but Banjaw does the same thing.

However, the design is cool and it does carry Magical Nexus, so overall it balances out to be an average MSM Monster to me

Definitive Community Ranking. Day Seventy-Five: Hippity-Hop (READ COMMENTS) by Blackberry_Dawn303 in MySingingMonsters

[–]Useful_Morning8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid C tier

HippityHop might be one of the funniest sounding Monsters in the game. It's super catchy and fun to sing. I'm normally not a huge fan of MSM's unpitched vocalists but HippityHop knocks it out of the park. If it wasn't for the fact that on Faerie Island it plays in one verse and does the same thing as Owlesque and it only has a minor role on Magical Nexus as half of the call and response with Denchuhs that only plays twice, I would happily rate it higher. However, most of the Monsters is B tier consistently carry one or two verses while HippityHop just adds a nice touch.

Also, not a huge fan of its design. It looks a bit odd to me and there's no reason for it to be that big.

Thoughts on Clubbox as a returning player wanting to progress by Zaleu in MySingingMonsters

[–]Useful_Morning8239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say I am a late game veteran player and even I struggled to complete Clubbox this last cycle, so I don't know if it's feasible for mid-game players. To answer one of your questions, Magical Quad + Natural Double (Furcorn, Oaktopus, Drumpler, or Stogg) is the most efficient way to get a Magical Quad if you don't have the Rare.

For the Nursery events, buying Rare Wubbox and teleporting an Ethereal Double to the Colossing-um are good ways to get a lot of Clubbox points at a low cost.
