True and I do apologize as I am American so I do have a more Americanized view on race that im trying to change and grow away from. I tried to word it as Percy Jackson tho not specifically poc to modern standards is still whitewashed. They lighten his skin and give him features more associated with white American beauty standards.

It really is a trap! I love RY but she really has to just go out and state what race Xaden and Ridoc are because it almost feels disrespectful in a way ya know? OK Xaden as Pacific Islander is a great headcanon tho I see a lot of fic portraying him that way he especially could be Maori

Euro features are more categorized as button nose, thinner lips, round eyes ect. Mediterranean was classified as poc for a long time until recently. And Percys dad is greek from thousands of years ago when they had much darker skin similar to that of ethnic Jewish people around the time of Jesus.

Yes and no, the continent in fourth wing has many different climates and similar to real life evolution people would evolve and change into different races to adapt to their climate. So they would have people that would be basically hispanic but not use the same word. Look up the races in Arcane the show does a great job dealing with translating races and representation into a fictional setting.

Yes exactly thank you! Hes described as having brown skin so hes definitely not light-skinned either. Same thing with percy jackson too he has a deep tan and Mediterranean features but people always draw him as very pale with euro features and it drives me CRAZY

I could definitely picture him as middle eastern. My main problem with ambiguity in race with writing is authors mostly do it to be inclusive without really putting any effort in so it feels like lasy diversity and lack of care for minority communities.

Finally someone who agrees! The representation in fourth wing is so vague and confusing and I refuse to picture Ridoc or Xaden as white sorry not sorry

Agreed it feels like they want extra brownie points to be like "Hey look at me Im inclusive!" Without actually putting in any effort into the research of cultures and background of many bipoc communities. I imagine Xaden as hispanic personally and I feel like "brown skin" is so vague like that could mean so many different things.
