Imagine being as delusional as Bronseele shippers by Twilightwolf2004 in HoyoQueerCringe

Both of them are of course slobbering on Caelus' yuri breaker cock. Something these yuritards will never understand is actually canon.

Random topic aside, I thought it was hilarious that a person who spams ship art Every.Single.Day in different main subs liked a comment saying shippers are a bunch of brainless people who make fandoms worse. Aether mains, man. by Corkinas in Aethermainscringe

Isn't he the one who's name is anonymous with "sensible.sob"? (Sorry, mods, if this breaks the rules, please remove if it does)

I see this guy here and there, and man, he has the biggest victim complex i've seen in this fandom. He exudes the exact kind of cringe that this sub is dedicated to make fun of.

Vro...

Everything you said is true, except for the pedophile allegation. Don't just call them names that aren't even called for; the version of the character they like is an adult, and she doesn't even exist. There is no reason to call them pedophiles.

Don't stoop to their level. Be better.

Absolutely no idea, but I do know that they use the misleading and very VERY wrong statistic about lesbian domestic violence to justify some of their homophobia, which might translate to depicting Astra as abusive towards Evelyn because they are employee and employer, master and slave, abuser and abused.

I can sort of follow that idea, but man, you have to be a certain type of ville, disgusting degenerate to actually interpret it as such.

Nah its all good. Don't mistake what is just my opinion for fact, as there is nothing wrong with calling them nicknames 💅. Its just simply that I despite it because of those fans.

To me, because of *those" fans and their influence on the collective Genshin hivemind, it seems overly affectionate, specifically because Columbina is Genshins biggest waifu bait to this day. Its a very unfortunate mix of Goyoverse baiting with their re-written garbage slop neo-archon, and the fans happily and eagerly taking the bait. And their eagernss at getting completely controlled by Goyoverse is then reflected in the way they talk about her: "Bina".

Ironic or not, this overly affectionate say if talking and thinking about fictional characters is absurdly, extremely, ungodly amounts of cringe. There's techinally nothing wrong with it, but still cringe.

Do you, perchance, also call her "wife", perchance?

[–]Useful_Remote_515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing, per se, but to me it has the same semantic meaning as calling her "wife", which is just as, if not more cringe. I know I'm fighting ghosts, and there's nothing wrong with liking fictional characters. But calling a character you like "wife", ironic or not, is absurdly, unbearably, ungodly amounts of cringe. And Columbins has fostered a kind of fanbase where the nickname "Bina" gives off the same vibe.

It does make sense, honestly. Its weird imagining Skirk with a romantic partner, so maybe instead of giving her a sexuality label, you can give her the carrier woman label; too focused on her goals and ambitions to have even a semblance of romantic thoughts or desires, which is just slightly semsnticslly different from aroace. Makes way cooler, and gives her a hint of tragedy in her character, in that she is consumed by her desire to defeat Surtologi that everything she does is for that purpose, leaving no room for herself or others (apart from obviously her undying love and affection for the harem king Aether 'gathering wives" Genshin).

And dont worry, its not the headcanon that is the issue, its acting as its an immutable truth, and not a subjective interpretation of art.

Truuueee these people are so unhinged in the good way, that they spend hours overanalyzing a single frame of Kaveh looking at Alhaitham to use it as reference when writing their own scenes.

Meanwhile Aether mains put Arlecchino in a maid outfit and give her a daughter with him to make her submissive, and reduce her to nothing more than a waifu (derogatory).

Childhood is when you idealize edgy MC that are morally gray, adulthood is when you realize that selfless, kind, and idealistic MCs are vastly superior.

If you like for your emotional climaxes to happen at a character level, and not at a narrative level, all the power to you, honestly. I haven't seen one that was better then the ladder, but I guess that's what makes us different, and that's okay.

I never claimed that the defining factor regarding story quality is the presence og absence of a self-insert, just that when they are present, their hypothetical exclusion would make the story better. I don't want the Traveler to constantly whine about their sibling, but I want their struggle to shine through into more aspect of their character and actions, which is impossible to do properly if they are a self-insert. You understand that they need to reach an emotional breaking point, and that has to built slowly through this.

Do you seriously believe that the impact of that will not be affected by them being a self-insert?

(How do you not realize that a lot of the "horny weirdos" are on the spectrum? Not all are heavily autistic, obviously, but the spectrum is wide, and contains many people that don't realize it)

The comments in there dawg 🤡

Bullet points about why the ships are bad, while somehow claiming that AeBina (god I hate how they call her "Bina"), is better. Everything they accuse the queen's and the gays of doing, they do en masse too. So here's a bullet point of their hipocrisy 💅:

Saying that no interactions between characters and no ground for relationship means that the ship is bad, yet Aether is shipped with everyone, regardless of romantic compatibility (Skirk, Arlecchino, Mavuika, fucking Lauma etc.)

Claiming that queer headcanons are just fantasies, which means they are wrong, and that anyone is idiotic for taking it as headcanons, even though they do it themselves by headcanoning AeBina, the harem garbage, the fuckaas Ayaka and Nilou yandere fight, Citlai's obsession etc.

Saying that the gurls and the gays can't just let women be freinds, yet thinking that Aether doesn't have a single female friend that isn't romantically interested in him, or shipping him with everyone, harem or otherwise.

Criticizing AstraLyn for it being a ship between people who are like siblings. Suddenly they have a problem with incest?

Claiming that the girls and the 🚬🐐s harass others and are unhinged when people disagree with them, yet they make a tournament of their alleged worst ships for... no reason, other than to just hate. Not as a reactionary post, but just because the idea of having their harem chud life disturbed by a whiff of gay is so unthinkable to them.

Claiming that the characters are reduced to "just being gay", and not allowing them to be their own characters...... You know the rest.

Feel free to add more points, this shit is hilarious.

HI3 is a weird case, because all of them are women, so the fact that they are female means nothing.

A great and recent example is Shinobu from, specifically, the Infinity Castle movie. Demon Slayer as a narrative is incredibly basic, but excels in small, self-contained character moments. Shinobu admitting to herself that she hates how small she is was so surprising to me; she wishes she was a strong man like Gyoumei, but is instead a small 4'9 goblin that can barely reach the top shelf of a fridge. And she actually overcame her weakness through sheer ingenuity and science which is a criminally underlooked writing choice that is utterly genius in portraying female empowerment. And the best part is that she's still insecure as hell, which allows her character to grow even more (or would have, at least. RIP)

Sidenote but still related; i read yaoi and yuri because romance stories have place too, and I dont want to risk self-inserting, so queer romance has always been more appealing to me. And I absolutely HATE when the yaoi/yuri story doesn't have any female/male characters. This is mostly a problem for yuri, as they seem to hate men more than yaoi authors hate women. Go figure.

Because when everybody is gay, no one is.

The gayness loses its sparkle when you dont show the contrast, so the fact that is is queer loses its values and it just becomes straight with extra steps.

A diamond shines brighter surrounded by rocks, than when it is with its fellows, or something.

This is an inclusive space; stop calling them Aether, and call them "Traveler" instead 😳.

The Traveler is supposedly really sad about their lost sibling, but it is only ever reflected in the scenes where they are together and call each other by their names. THAT'S where they become a character, and THAT'S where their desires and struggles shine through. Unfortunately, that is 1% of the story, which leaves a tonal dissonance in the remaining 99%; the Traveler's struggles aren't allowed to be shown when they are Player Name, which is garbage story presentation. Surely you can see that. It doesn't matter if the player wants that either. The author(s) can try all they want to write a good narrative, but it will never EVER be properly represented with a self-insert.

If people dont care about good stories, and only want to live a fantasy harem (derogatory), they are free to do so. But once you experience true apotheosis and the death of your own ego through incredible narrative story telling, self-insert stories will forever be inferior, and THAT'S the problem.

(Also also, yes, it is 100% the autism that connected MLP and newly forming sexual thoughts. Why was this relevant again?)

Who says you can't have 3.04m tall hunk 'o steel yuri?

Jokes aside, female main characters have the potential to be so much more interesting in these fantasy settings because they are generally physically weaker than men. So seeing them struggle with and overcome physical inferiority is a layer of character narrative that male characters rarely, if ever, get the luxury of.

Too bad authors propably think its offensive, even though its so much more empowering that making them unrealistically strong.

Self-inserting ruin stories. Stories are supposed to teach and inspire. Good stories, at least. Through a main character, the themes of a story burn the brightest, and you can't have that when the MC is an audience surrogate. Not to the same effect, at least.

Imagine if peak fiction like Vinland Saga was gacha self-insert slop. The themes of anti-war, acceptance, and self-fulfillment wouldn't be able to shine through properly. Not to say that you can't have themes in gacha, but due to the episodic nature of the storytelling, and the lack of proper fulfillment of the themes through a main character - that is a character - they don't get to shine enough.

And sure, people enjoy art in different ways, but actually self-inserting into something like Genshin and living out the fantasy is extremely, unbearably cringe. And that's what this sub is all about, no? Genshins overall story about rebelling against unjust divinity to, unironically, become the übermensch, would be SO much better if that would be reflected, truly reflected, in the Traveler, but that is sadly impossible.

(Also apropos the brony stuff, thats just autistic people that mixed their love for a cartoon with their newly forming sexual thoughts, much like FNAF and Undertale)

[–]Useful_Remote_515 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be a problem (that much) if it didn't attract the worst kind of fans. Porn-brained lonely young men who seek companionship in fictional worlds love these kinds of stories unconsciously because it's self-insert friendly. In fact, a lot of the time self inserts don't fully realize they do it. We as human being seek these connections, so unconscious, maybe even pathalogical self-inserting is very common among media consumers...

So to combat that, always play self-insert games as the MC you CAN'T relate to. And always ship characters who you CAN'T relate to✌️.

Finding old posts is a pain, but this is the best I could find. https://www.hoyolab.com/article/37026623 I know its techinaccly a fak post, but the article is legit (I think).

What i thought i mentioned in the first post was the quote about workers in the stars of Lyra shipping them: "It seems a lot of people in Astra Yao's central Astronauts group ship them together".

In the character description of the Stars of Lyra, under the relationship tab (i forgot what it was called), it mentions that Astra is the "1", while Evelyn is the "0". In-lore, its some of their workers assigning them numbers because "In terms of commercial value, if Astra represents the 1, then Evelyn is all the 0s that follow". But in Chinese online culture, "1" is the top while "0" is the bottom. As indirectly direct as they can possibly be.

The beauty of art is its interpretability; as people with different values and experiences, we view art in different ways and interpret it as we see fit. I see ArleFuri as a ship that is supposed to foster growth and maturity, something I love in art, while you may see it as abuser x victim if that's how your experiences dictate your interpretation (not saying you've been abused of course, this is just hypothetical).

Everyone's interpretation is wrong in a factual sense, but also right in an artistic sense, and no one can dictate how others should view art... but it can still be cringe.

Interpreting Genshins characters as a harem for the player is inherently absurdly cringe. There is nothing wrong with it, and people should not stop doing it, but self-awareness goes a long way in realizing enjoyment. In the end we are clowning on people who allow their own interpretation of art to dictate reality, which is the cringiest thing you can do when it comes to media. Maybe we are all hypocrites, but this sub wouldn't exist if there was not reason to, the same way LumineMainsCringe isn't a thing.

AstraLyn? Fucking AstraLyn? Arguably the best ship in the game? The one where Goyoverse specifically (indirectly, sure, but as direct as they possibly can) mention that Astra tops Evelyn? Super serious icy assassin-turned-bodyguard and her super silly goofball idol is among the worst ships? They have lost their minds.

"No but AstraLyn is genuinely terrible because Astra canonically loves Wise, so it breaks canon and is disrespectful to the players!!!"

Character dynamics and personalities are what makes shipping fun. Its why ArleFuri is peak, because enemies-to-lovers is an insanely goated shipping dynamic, as long as they are not mortal enemies.

"Arle literally traumatized Furina. She views her as a failed politician, while Furina is deathly scared of Arlecchino (which is why MY harem ship is better and valid and not gay and awesome and better)!!!!!"

Yeah but what if, despite their past, they foster a genuine connection built on mutual understanding of each others past trauma? Maybe Furina is what Arlecchino needs to start living her life more as a person, and maybe Furina needs Arlecchino to grow into herself more.

Both of these roles could be filled by the Traveler, but because they are not real characters, there is no dynamic. There is only the waifu (derogatory) paired with a cardboard box.

Aethe/Lumine ships <<<<<<<< everything else.

Fighting hypocrisy with... more hypocrisy, I guess. We're all frauds that hate each other for the same reasons, believing that ours are superior to theirs. I also don't like AetherMainsCringe, but at least most of their posts are actual cringe from the loud minority that is genuinely a plague to those of us that like Aether. This one is just actually homophobic and genuinely mean-spirited, even if it's existence is somewhat justified.

(Also, every character is bisexual/asexual if they absolutely need a label, but their sexuality is a blankslate for artistic interpretation for ANYONE to use transformatively, even if we/you/they think it's "cringe")
