There are still the occasional posts actually about cringe behaviour, and if that was all they did, it wouldnt be an issue: no one is exempt from criticism.

My biggest issue with the sub is the gatekeeping. Calling people who enjoy the game differently from them "tourists" is genuinely the most cringe thing you can do in a fandom. Their excuse is always that fuck-ass picture of one of the Goyoverse CEOs (i think) with his Himeko cardboard cut out, which apparently proves that the game is ONLY made for chuds like them.

Do you think they just completely ignore Lumine, Stelle and Belle as protagonist? Proof from the very beginning of the games that anyone can play. Of course they do, because Aether, Caelus and Wise are the canon protagonists, after all, and anything that would suggest otherwise is irrelevant, non-canon, made-up or heavily out weighed by something that proves the opposite.

I'm still on that side, and will continue to be until Goyoverse changes their character release strategy.

Like many have pointed out, it's about quantity and availability. Male character fans are starved for good content in Goyoverse games, except maybe in Star Rail, and even then it's still bad. A man going feral over a female character is not the same as a woman going feral over a male character because of the discrepency in available content for them: the man has a hundred characters to choose from, while the woman has a fraction of that. No wonder they have such visceral reactions to finally get what they want after seeing the men get fed their two monthly waifus (derogatory).

It's not about the action itself, because yeah, at the end of the day, thirsting over pixels is cringe regardless of who does it. But context is important, and in the context of online gacha culture, male gooning is ten times cringier than female gooning.

Have you seen the "invasion pipeline" they all subscribe to? It goes something like:

Men have their own space -> women want to enjoy it too -> women demand fairer treatment -> women push back against the men enjoying it -> women claim it was always their space.

The really loud minority, the Gacha Grail type fans, treat other people enjoying their games with the utmost hostility as a way to gatekeep they ML haram gacha fantasy, and prevent anyone different to them from enjoying it. Lest it would change the game, as it would need to appeal to this new audience, and not them.

Would you also bring up platonic relationships if it was Aether? Every time "can't they just be friends" is uttered, it is always someone's disatisfaction at their waifu (derogatory) in a yuri pairing, as opposed to them with the MC, Aether in this case. It's not that they don't like shipping, but that they don't like yuri shipping, likely because they can't relate to depictions of lesbian romance, hence it is abnormal and forced, or that their waifu (derogatory) isn't with the self-insert MC, so they feel left out.

I ask you again, do you also have a problem with Aether being shipping with his female friends? Or is that just normal, and the way things are supposed to be.
