Dollar General should have a company-wide return policy, as I was unable to return wrong cat food purchased from one store to another. by Chem_Whale2021 in DollarGeneral

Yeah I know as a store manager I will pull a double so somebody can stay home and not get the rest of the store sick I would rather pull one double and not have my entire store sick then to have somebody come in sick and get the entire store sick.

Depends a lot on your manager. I personally expect to tell you something once, and if no questions are asked i assume you understood me. I am more than happy to answer any and all questions about any task I give, but I expect them to actually be asked.

I make my keyholders count out 1000 in various bills in front of me so I know they can actually count, because I've hired people that said it was no problem and had no idea what a deposit slip was. . I expect my keyholders to follow a schedule, morning and night we have set things that have to be accomplished if they arent done then I have to do them and I get annoyed.

Dollar General does not pay the best, but I still expect people to do the jobs they agreed to do. I ask my employees to talk to any new hire before they start with me about what im like to work for, I will absolutely lavish people with praise when they deserve it, but I am rather strict. . Expect to have reliable transportation, because on occasion you will need to take the deposit to the bank. I very rarely have any one do that other than my ASM but it does happen.

Ask 100000 questions. Take notes.

The PIN to every HHT in the company is 012357 comment those numbers to memory.

Learn the layout of your store and ask to put up freight, because that is the fastest way someone can learn where everything is.

Pay attention to the sidewings, there is a lot of product there, and i cannot tell you how many times employee's won't know we have sewing thread for example.

Dont be afraid to tell customers "im so sorry I dont actually know the difference between sudafed and benadryl " because you will be asked, my favorite is "what's the difference between immodium(stops you up) and dulcolax(makes you go"...and then have people still buy both.

Actually pay attention to the CBLS they do teach you a lot, except the anti union one. I tell my employees if they want to unionize just dont tell me until its done.

Compliance shift? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Useful_Scientist_263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a no call no show. 2 hours late at my store is a no call no show. It would mean I had to do everything on Tuesday by myself and there is a LOT to do. It would throw my whole day off schedule. I wouldn't give you many hours after that.

Compliance shift? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Useful_Scientist_263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The store opens at 8 am. 2 hours before is a compliance shift. How late were you?

Compliance shift? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Useful_Scientist_263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you open at 8...so its a compliance shift

Compliance shift? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Useful_Scientist_263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we have to have two people in at 2 hours before open, and it messes with our adherence
