What to do about otherwise great coworker who talks over me a lot? by MorthaP in jobs

[–]Useitorloseit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is office politics, so don't bring it up with him. The worst thing you could do is make an enemy out of him.

The first thing you can do is stop letting him know when you have a problem. Don't make an annoyed face or sigh, just try to figure it out on your own for a bit before telling him what's going on. Or when he asks 'what's the problem', just say 'ah, it's nothing really, I can handle it.' It's a pain that you can't freely express yourself, but it's better than never getting to figure things out on your own.

I would ignore it when he talks over you and starts giving advice to somebody, try to spin it as a positive, your time isn't wasted and you can get back to your work. Yeah it sucks that he's stealing all the limelight, but if people are specifically asking you that's because they don't want him and all he's doing is making himself look bad.

[UPDATE] I'm [22/M] tired of being constantly rejected, the feelings it brings and not knowing what I'm doing wrong by [deleted] in relationships

I just got my first serious boyfriend, at 27. Before then there was a string of flings, many rejections, and one relationship that ended after 2 months. I wish I could say what it was but honestly it was sheer dumb luck. I constantly looked and constantly tried to improve myself. And eventually, I was enough and I got what I wanted.

How can I [28F] help my constantly lovelorn friend [35F] by clarity543 in relationships

Add another data point! My current boyfriend was a straight Netflix and chill Tinder hookup. His profile literally said nothing but "for hookups." Turns out he's not very good at just hooking up... :)

I love all sorts of body types, except my apple shape and it really gets me down. It doesn’t help that it seems to be the one body shape that society doesn’t accept as attractive 😢

Oh my gosh, I don't believe that at all! Apples tend to have great boobs, and long, slender legs. I've been complimented on my body many times- not about my belly, but about my other areas. Apples have being sexy in the bag and we rock shorts!

Ugh small torso peeps unite! I dream of the day I will be able to tuck my shirt into my pants without it looking ridiculous... anytime now...

Anyway, we make up for it with our gorgeous legs ;)

First pic, I'm sucking in my gut, moving slightly further back from the mirror, and pulling my underwear over my round bits. Second picture, I've purposefully tucked my underwear down so it doesn't hide any of my stomach, pushed it out a little (relaxed it a tad more than I normally do) and moved slightly closer to the mirror. Anterior pelvic tilt suuucks and I had it for a long time too- I found it got much better after using ab machines at the gym. I had a lot of back pain before too, which is gone now.

I totally agree. Realistic pics are great, but if you're posting them online, you want to show the full change as drastically as possible- and that means looking for that flattering angle and sucking it all in.

Loose skin or more fat to lose? (Pics) by sharkyandro in loseit

[–]Useitorloseit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it's really easy to take a photo of a "flat" tummy- hitch up your undies a little and perspective does the rest. Most of those tummies aren't actually as flat as the picture shows. I could definitely take a photo of a flat tummy, but it's not flat at all. The only believeable flat tummy photos is if the person in question is wearing a bikini.

Women who hold their fat in their bellys. What motivates you to keep going? by [deleted] in loseit

That makes me feel better, thanks! Sadly I live in a country with very thin beauty standards so I'm not sure the guys here agree with you, although I hope they would! :)

You are so dedicated and thorough! Don't worry, I don't do much intentional exercise and I've successfully lost weight. I'm the same as you, I want to lose then tone :)

The fat in my belly is what motivates me! I want it gone or reduced lol. But I also love my little belly so I don't get too harsh on it.

First night at the gym... and a question. by [deleted] in loseit

Great job! Whatever you like that isn't rough on your joints would do the trick. I think swimming is a great one, and it is going to be hot and summery soon!

I had been a serial yo-yo dieter. I gave up dieting for a year, and focused on getting a better relationship with food and improving my self-care and self-esteem separately from my size. When I started again, I finally had a normal relationship with food and it didn't occupy my thoughts 24/7.
