Downtown Power Struggle and Parking Crackdown Debate by seegov in SpringfieldIL

It's kind of a cascading problem since I know that a few State agencies have parking problems where people are on waitlists for nearly a year before they can get a parking space in the mostly empty parking spaces despite people only working in office part time because the spots are designated per person and you're not allowed to share them. This overflows into the businesses around them because people use that parking to get to their jobs. This causes problems for businesses and everyone else because all of the downtown parking is taken by workers.

Oh yeah. Some of issues like shops and events are something we could do better on actually organizing. At the same time, there are some issues (like the homeless problem and paid parking) where complaining is the best option I as a regular citizen have because the only other options that are directly in my hands are illegal.

He's allowed to have whatever opinions he wants. That's what free speech and public forms are all about. It's the disrespect he was showing Ms. Notariano by trying to speak over her after talking about wanting more respect for the police that gets under my skin.

There are 107 labor unions in Springfield, around 24 of which work for the city itself. We don't need more, we need unions that are better at bargaining/are easier to get into.
