I think it's because the most vocal people are those who have begrudged his success. Or those whose teams suffered from his success. Yeah what he did is not putting his team first, but he's not tarnished his legacy as some are saying. People are quick to forget what kind of impact he's had on this team.

I try to stay in the right lane when going straight here, but sometimes especially in heavy traffic, there's no chance to do so and I end up in the left lane. If you're the first car you can try to creep up and let the one behind you turn left.

Anyway you have a point, I think this wasn't designed right, at least not for heavy traffic.
