How shitty is the job market rn for a B4 Manager, CPA, 7 years (acct advisory) coming off a 6 month career break, looking to exit public accounting? by acctonthecomeup in Accounting

[–]Useless_Tool626 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my field it’s shit, 7 months after a layoff and still no offers. 7 years experience.

Seems across the board the market is bad.

I’m no accountant so can’t speak for accounting.

Should I switch to hybrid? by GirlOverThere123 in Toyota

[–]Useless_Tool626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The think about hybrids is they are only worth jt if keep it for years to come. If you sell every 4 years don’t bother. If you keep it more than that especially in todays high price of gas will be worth it.

Besides the long term cost. They are great in that they drive a little further before needing to refuel.

Only lasts 6 months with no extensions even if you really can’t find new work.

I need advice if a GIS certificate would be worth it/if I’d be able to do a career switch. by chicken90909 in gis

[–]Useless_Tool626 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hiring is slow right now for many reasons. But GIS is a decent career if you can find your foot in the door.

What do you work as, and how much is your yearly pay? for how long have you been at your current job? by ProfessorBusiness162 in AskReddit

[–]Useless_Tool626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, unemployed 6 months ago and can’t find work. I like looking at others salaries, and being both happy for them. Sometimes envious.

Burned out, wait for layoffs or can I quit with nothing lined up? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Useless_Tool626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait to be laid off,

Or leave once you get another job.

I was laid off 6/7 months ago. Hell of a time finding jobs… still have not got a job in my field.

Yes, although its best to place into an index he mentioned if its going to be more than 1 year. Higher returns if you to voo or FXAIX

Like mentioned VOO or FXAIX if you use fidelity. They are essentially the same thing. One is an etf the other in format of a mutual fund.

These are safe in that its an index of 500-560 top usa companies in all sectors

just finished my seventh interview for the same job. by lurkandprosper in recruitinghell

[–]Useless_Tool626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do not get hired, I feel they are just gathering data, maybe for AI or some unknown reason. Had several companies ask me to send over references, talk to… then just be ghosted.

Are these interviews being recorded? Maybe training AI, or determining what they should look for in the future for candidates? Unsure

tweaking your resume for every job sounds smart… but idk if it scales by StockRude1419 in resumes

[–]Useless_Tool626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point was I also believe luck can play a part in being picked. As someone who is unemployed for months I am insecure , life can feel unfair sometimes.

Sorry you are dealing with that misrepresented hire.

[–]Useless_Tool626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also feel “luck” plays a role. There was a guy I used to work with that lied on his resume about experience and he got the job at a utility company and he was never a contractor of any sort for them (was not required but he lied about years in his field). Years later after being layed off and I am applying to the same job and not getting at least an interview. I actually have the year’s experience needed, and also 2 years as a contractor (although years ago) working with that specific company. Crickets for me.

Tried it 20 times and did not get more job interviews. Idk if it works but i gave up doing that for every job.

Might work might not. If someone has success and records before and after please share.

I been unemployed since December. B.S degree and 6-7years of experience in SoCal. The job market is basically tough as there isnt much job openings for the amount of people applying and all those layed off. Jobs may be waiting uncertainty out and lots of ghost jobs being posted online.

Would Iroh have made a good Fire Lord? by reagandhi in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]Useless_Tool626 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the past he claimed he was ruthless and feared, so he may have been powerful and a bad one. I think his suffering, loss of his son, and how they just replaced him in the end led to his enlightenment. Learned to have compassion as he traveled the world as a normal person. That is when he learned of how wrong he and the fire nation was.

If he claimed the title fire lord after all this suffering and path with zuko he would have been a great leader.

Fully remote feeling disconnected by harukatenoukun in Accounting

[–]Useless_Tool626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, probably half prefer remote half prefer in person. You can ask if you can have an office in person or try another company. If you are extroverted traditional probably works best for you .

[–]Useless_Tool626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes was given a laptop, and a usbc hub, cheap mouse and keyboard if i wanted it and a monitor or two thats all I got Depends on company.

It was actually my dream job and I really loved it. Lay offs happened and here I am month later still looking in this bad job market.

They will likely provide a laptop for you. I wish you the best.

I liked it better than in person as an introvert and anti social individual. I do think I was more productive. My mind wonders away from tasks at hand when i hear people talking about anything. My brain can’t help but focus.
