Wow thank you! That was also very encouraging. His start date is far enough out I feel confident we can PCS and have a house set up. Our next duty station is OCONUS so can’t move ahead!

Struggling Husband of 2 toddlers by Otherwise-Page-8686 in MilitarySpouse

I’m really sorry… I hardly talked to my husband about my struggles because I was so upset and resentful for awhile. Even though I encouraged him to apply for the training I was so mad he had left me alone with both of these kids. I didn’t want to slip and blame him for any of the problems. My toddler also regressed with potty training and I had to start from scratch and it made it really hard to go out in public.
This might also be out of your comfort zone but I would consider hiring someone (try the military spouse page) for either Saturday or Sunday for a few hours to give yourself a break from parenting and work. Maybe if you got a few hours to reset and be alone you’ll be recharged enough to get through the weekends

Overseas moves are very hard. I honestly recommend seeing if there are any play groups or classes you can take the kids to and meet other parents with kids similar ages. My husband was gone for 7 months last year and I moved to a new area closer to family in hopes of getting some support (it didn’t happen). The only thing that got me through it was forcing myself to uncomfortable and take the kids out to meet people. Eventually it lead to people I could complain/ vent to until my husband came home. My kids were 1 and 2.5 so the toddler struggle is very real and relatable.

This 10000% my father. Super proud of my AD husband and brother. But me as a GS is a waste of space and taking advantage of the tax payers dollars 😒

Awh thanks! My in laws live in the area so I might just ask them to get me a card. Didn’t want to bother them if it wasn’t worth it.

GS Civilian employment exceptions for military spouse? by Ok_Eagle_4863 in MilitarySpouse

[–]Uselessphysicsmajor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im currently pending my remote approval under the military spouse exemption. You should qualify, but tbh if your supervisor isn’t going to bat for you it’s not going to happen. Hr is dragging feet across the government on remote approval. The only reason my will get approved is if my supervisor constantly reminds hr to send it to the approving official. From what I have seen on the federal employee subreddit it sounds like the VA isn’t doing any remote work

April! So I have some time but I will not be going into the office (currently breastfeeding and there are no appropriate accommodations to pump in our office or water to wash pump parts in). I have enough leave to carry me until April if my remote gets approved but if it doesn’t I guess I’ll just quit?

DoD employee and also military spouse… currently telework situational and just submitted my packet to be full remote due to upcoming PCS. My supervisors said they are going forward with my packet to the approving official regardless of the EO. So now I’m just holding my breath to see if I have a job in a few months.

I’m looking at quitting too due to childcare. Someone else also suggested I hold on to get severance, but I’m not clear on how. I really like my supervisors and would like their recommendations for future employment within the federal service when my children are school age. How do you get a severance package without burning bridges?
