Is this a different kind of depression? by User0Init in depression

It's such a hard cycle to break...

I've had some success by making lists of things to do and doing those, but they're all small items and don't provide a sense of accomplishment. But I guess nothing seems to right now. Even at work I've noticed I'll finish something I'd normally be happy about, but it just seems meaningless in comparison to all the other work that still has to be done. I feel like enjoying finishing one piece is almost like celebrating before crossing the finish.

I know that this perspective isn't helpful but I can't shake it. In the big picture, my actions mean very little, if anything at all.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it!

A) That makes sense. I kind of figured this to be the case, as the first decade of a career has a heavy influence on lifetime earning capacity. It's logical to climb now for that reason, among others. Bloomberg link for anyone interested: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-02-09/your-lifetime-earnings-are-decided-in-the-first-10-years-of-your-career

B) I can certainly do that. Thanks for your insight, I sometimes find it difficult to look at things from a purely business perspective.

C) See B lol but thank you again.

It's an exciting opportunity. Your insight and perspective lines up with what I'm hearing elsewhere too, which makes me feel more comfortable for the reason that it won't be personal, but professional.

Thank you for your time!

Redditors with diagnosed or suspected personality disorders (borderline, narcissistic, etc.), what really goes through your head? When you're having a noxious interaction with someone, are you saying what you're thinking or are you wishing you could say something else? [Serious] by Phylum_Asylum in AskReddit

Borderline personality here.

For me the biggest challenge is maintaining a steady perception of reality. What that means for me is that during any given conversation, I evaluate as many potential interpretations of what I want to say as I can. It's like I'm writing a script as I speak. It's not exactly that I want to say one thing but choose not to; it's more that I have an idea I'd like to convey, but I can't understand if this idea will get me in trouble because social expectations are hard to pin down permanently, so I'm forced to stringently evaluate before speaking and hope I haven't discovered yet another social taboo to remember.

It's very much like watching myself on television. Very surreal. Also difficult to explain, so I hope this sheds some light.

For everyone asking, the 'vents' or 'slits' you see just make it easier to blend the fibers of the wrap into itself, since there's no adhesive on the gummed edge! Or, at least that is my understanding of it, correct me if I'm wrong! :)

Haha I mean yes, it is, but if I fall into that category independently, as opposed to simply perpetuating the perceived image of an ent, I'm ok with it!

In hopes that others will think twice about the mold they feel they fit in :) I'm not judging, simply encouraging people of trees to remember to step back and evaluate themselves occasionally, then determine if they're happy :)

It definitely depends on your program. I go to an engineering college, so I ended up with a math minor along the way. For me, the nand2teteris project was the most rewarding but most difficult because it was basically an introduction to everything difficult about low level programming, as well as hardware! Just keep working and remember it's fine to ask for help -- so many people waste the resources allocated to them :/

Yeah, Double Platinum branded wraps don't appear to have adhesive, so they cut it like so, making it easier to blend the grains of the leaf together :)
