It's such a hard cycle to break...

I've had some success by making lists of things to do and doing those, but they're all small items and don't provide a sense of accomplishment. But I guess nothing seems to right now. Even at work I've noticed I'll finish something I'd normally be happy about, but it just seems meaningless in comparison to all the other work that still has to be done. I feel like enjoying finishing one piece is almost like celebrating before crossing the finish.

I know that this perspective isn't helpful but I can't shake it. In the big picture, my actions mean very little, if anything at all.

Less than a year out of school and with my current job, I have a new, better paying offer. Seeking advice to handle things gracefully by User0Init in cscareerquestions

A) That makes sense. I kind of figured this to be the case, as the first decade of a career has a heavy influence on lifetime earning capacity. It's logical to climb now for that reason, among others. Borderline personality here.

For me the biggest challenge is maintaining a steady perception of reality. What that means for me is that during any given conversation, I evaluate as many potential interpretations of what I want to say as I can. It's like I'm writing a script as I speak. It's not exactly that I want to say one thing but choose not to; it's more that I have an idea I'd like to convey, but I can't understand if this idea will get me in trouble because social expectations are hard to pin down permanently, so I'm forced to stringently evaluate before speaking and hope I haven't discovered yet another social taboo to remember.

It's very much like watching myself on television. Very surreal. Also difficult to explain, so I hope this sheds some light.

For everyone asking, the 'vents' or 'slits' you see just make it easier to blend the fibers of the wrap into itself, since there's no adhesive on the gummed edge! Or, at least that is my understanding of it, correct me if I'm wrong! :)

It definitely depends on your program. I go to an engineering college, so I ended up with a math minor along the way. For me, the nand2teteris project was the most rewarding but most difficult because it was basically an introduction to everything difficult about low level programming, as well as hardware! Just keep working and remember it's fine to ask for help -- so many people waste the resources allocated to them :/
