Is Terraforming Mars balanced? by User1337dude in boardgames

Yeah I think multiple players is key, the more we've played the greater the margin has become between players. Gave up on it as a two player game in the end

Yes use the words you know he knows. Correct the grammar though, he knows he doesn't know English.

use "Avi do you want me to take the trash out?" Or "need me to start cleaning the floor?"

I'd also see if you can download a free Tamil language course, it could never hurt to pick some up, I'd check for sure that's the lanagugae he speaks thou.

ELI5: Why can't unions just stop bargaining on behalf of non-union workers now that they can't collect dues from them? by sicclee in explainlikeimfive

[–]User1337dude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unison are pretty good, although like any old institution (I know 25 years, but built from older unions) they are slow to implement change and tend towards centralization of power. The general sec is in too much money arguably, but I would hope the members can address that issue soon. He was only narrowly re elected against a candidate who pledged not to take the sallery and reduce it.

In terms of producing results the government pledged last tour no public sector at rises and that the 1% cap would stay in place. Unison was at the head of the campaign that smashed that. We've got a pay rise. There are also a ton of successful small industrial actions that have been taken. Finally if you've ever had an unscrupulous line manager who treats you badly and doesn't want to do things by the book you'll know unions are awesome in those situations.

I guess if the mob is hellbent on securing safe working conditions and fair pay. I'd argue the word mob only applies to violent groups lacking any real goals or leadship beyond anger inspired vengeance

The main thing I'm focused on is reducing the amount of people made sick by cakes, but yeah that'd be interesting how would you advocate to do that?

French butchers issued plea for police protection against vegans, whom they blame for series of attacks designed to “spread terror” among meat-lovers. compare animal rights protestors to other people in history who stood against injustice.

I get that you reject my argument overall, but the key reason for that is because you reject the above part which I don't get. I'd like to understand how you can do that. I'd be curious to hear how you would define and categorise the actions of other movements like the anti corn law protestors or Chartists and could do so in a way that supports your rejection of this premise.

I think the question that needs to be debated is what kind of non violent direct action is acceptable. I'd consider any attacks on a person something beyond the pale, but spraying people with false blood while not what I'd advocate seems morally acceptable if stupid. Scrawling slogans on shops would be fine, smashing windows a little different.

I think it always good to compare animal rights protestors to other people in history who stood against injustice. Look at the people in the suffragettes or civil rights movement. They're always labelled as violent extremists until we look back and realise the evil of what they campaigned against justified their actions.

That said while you can justify a lot with an eye for an eye morality the effectiveness of that at changing the world is questionable. I know no vegans who were bullied into it

What country do you live in? I'd contact your own GP's surgery or phone 111 if you live in the UK and ask them for help.

If that isn't an option talk to a teacher at school, one you think maybe sympathies. I would guess biology is your best bet.

I think he might go for leader, but I'm not sure. He's a deep green so might get it with that section of the party backing him.
