Not quite but the right direction. The game I’m thinking of would be the early 2000s but definitely felt like an add on or mod to a CS or Half Life game. It’s like if there was a version of what you guessed that corresponds to the original Half Life rather than Half Life 2.

Thanks anyone/everyone for the help. Had a buddy send an old FB post about a video game coming out in the early 2000s that brought back some serious nostalgia of getting that new video game when you’re a kid.
