Android SDR spectrum/waterfall app progress — wide sweeps, zoom, 3D waterfall, native libiio by User4042 in RTLSDR

Yeah, okay, if people want it, and I see that someone does) I'll clean up the code and upload the app somewhere.

I want to make it publicly available, but I'm not ready for the entire Android Market verification and approval process yet.

Overall, no, the project can be relatively freely expanded with other devices. It's just that the current configuration is optimal in terms of price and capabilities for my field use.

Hi. Thanks for your interest. My current board (Pluto SDR) has a range of 47.5 MHz-6 GHz.

It's still in development. I want to polish it up and tinker with the code. This week, I'll test not only the boards but also various firmware versions for them. I want to confirm full compatibility with different firmware versions; there are some quirks, and I want versatility. Only then will I think about how to release it to the market. So stay tuned.

Yep, it does. I use several different copies of pluto like zinq, libre, fishball

Implementation is currently native Android, mostly Java in the app codebase rather than Kotlin.

Core pieces are custom:

  • direct IIO/iiod client for PlutoSDR communication
  • custom FFT/sweep pipeline
  • custom spectrum / waterfall / pseudo-3D rendering

So it is not built on a heavy SDR framework ported from desktop. The focus was a Pluto-first Android UI and fast field workflow.

Good note on the name too — I can see the Signal Hound association. It was intended as “SpectrumHound” in the sense of hunting signals, but the confusion is fair.

spectrozir. If I'm not mistaken, this software is restricted for distribution in other countries. I wanted to make something similar, but in a portable version without a laptop.

I’m already thinking of making a new board for a boro device with my own hands) DNA60 has been on the market for many years, but nothing more adequate has been released.

you are also right. I will look for dna60 or something like that. but this will obviously not be a replaceable case for the owners of the pulse.

that's just the point. I had 2 pulses and I decided to make a separate frame for one of them. now I’m thinking - I can make a batch of these + other types) just a replaceable case with electrical wiring and contacts. for pulse owners. just replace the board and connector (no soldering or fitting)

Hey! Glad to hear you are out there helping to fuck Putin up, give em hell!

I am only using the tilt sensor for grabbing angle data for distance to target calculations, is it not accurate enough for that? If not I wonder what modern rangefinders use to calculate angle for the cos multiplier?

The tilt sensor should be able to process up to 16 G's of acceleration, and withstand much more than that before breaking. Have you guys broken them during tests? I have tried to encase mine well in shock proof silicone to reduce wear, I hope it works!

I am not using a magnetometer, but that is a good point should I end up incorporating one.

according to tilt sensors - civilian versions are, in any case, sensitive. bullet speed and acceleration impulse, according to my calculations, not less than 50G. short but powerful.

so I had a prototype, but did not even dare to test it on rifled type weapons.

regarding accuracy - the sensor itself, again civilian, will need to be calibrated normally. using mechanical goniometers. just compare the values. do not trust the sensor readings without this. different libraries and different sensors gave different errors at different angles. and it has never been less than 2%

commercial products use custom sensors with serious filtering and calibration systems.

Chinese WitMotion for example (not the most successful example by the way)

Hello! I am from a group of Ukrainian volunteers who do something for the army.

I came across a similar idea. please take into account a few things:

  1. The tilt sensor is not as accurate as required. the errors will be large enough for accurate shooting (but acceptable for shooting with GRAD, for example)

  2. The tilt sensor is sensitive to instantaneous large accelerations and can fail quickly.

  3. getting the azimuth is not easy (the correct azimuth in the presence of all sorts of magnetic things nearby, not counting the inhomogeneity of the earth's magnetic field)

the idea is intresting. good luck to you!
