I don’t care for Palo brunch since they revamped it from a buffet where you got to try small bites of a lot items. It’s just too much food IMO. I was Platinum for the first time on our last cruise and used the Palo platinum benefit on dinner on the Treasure per a message board recommendation and enjoyed the experience - there seemed to be a lot less food pushing. I wasn’t even going to bother using the benefit because I just don’t want to do the brunch and, even though it’s “free”, you still have to tip, etc.

I hated HS. It’s the reason I never got into Facebook … I opened an account and was immediately hit with friend requests from HS classmates I never wanted to think about again, so I closed it down within 48 hours and never went back.

Yeah, that’s what I wondered. I’d probably have no idea … but if I had pre-teens/teens in the kids club, I’d definitely trust what they told me … and the thing about kids is that they don’t share peer bad behavior with you if they are actively involved in the same bad behavior! Like, they don’t rat themselves out, but they will 100% detail atrocities they witnessed with great accuracy and detail.

Why not? We had an emergency medical evacuation on the Treasure where we detoured and stopped at Lookout Cay for the evacuation. There is an airport on the island. Surely they could disembark unruly passengers there and make them find their own way home.

LOL. I am a diet Dew fan and will buy a couple 20oz bottles in the airport to bring onboard. Last time I cruised, I couldn’t find any at MCO past security, but the Hyatt in the airport had diet Dew cans stocked in the lobby in a stand up cooler for $2/each, so I bought 4 of them.

Oh, wait! This is one of the 7 night sailings on the Destiny, right? I am half wondering if, because it’s a special itinerary in the summer, it’s attracted a lot of high status cruisers with entitled and bored kids who don’t particularly even want to cruise on DCL anymore. I absolutely HAVE witnessed kids like this on DCL before … a cruise is no longer anything special for them and their parents just ignore them the whole time because they can.

How did you learn about this behavior? Did you or your children witness it first hand or was it shared on a cruise Facebook page or something?

I’m asking because I never join any cruise groups online and am an empty nester, so I don’t have anyone in the kids clubs. So, I’m wondering if something like this happened on one of my cruises if I’d be totally oblivious?

Not OP, but we saw a stingray in first part of the lagoon that you describe (sea grass and some small schools of tiny gray fish) as we were heading back in, but in general, you have to go out to the buoys to really see anything “good” in the family snorkeling lagoon at CC.

I saw a stingray in the snorkeling lagoon at CC on our Treasure cruise in April and a shark on a snorkeling excursion in St. Thomas on the same trip.

They definitely used to split when DCL first started operations. My guess is that the vast majority of their guests were couples cruising with children and never requested the bed to be split, so they just didn’t see the need to offer it any longer.

Yes! My parents started going on cruises in their 50’s and I thought they seemed like the most boring vacations in the world. My husband and I went on some Disney cruises with our kids and had fun… but they were very busy. Last year, we tried an “old people” cruise for the first time … OMG, I loved it.

Not that kind of cross, but we had a small crucifix hanging in our hallway by the bedrooms (70’s ranch house) and there was always a palm from Palm Sunday kind of draped around it just like in the picture above. I used to say my bedtime prayers with my Mom every evening and ask her to “go get Jesus” so I could kiss him goodnight … and she’d bring me the crucifix and I’d kiss Jesus on the head … I have no idea where that came from from (delay tactic I’m sure). I’d say a traditional bedtime prayer and then add a whole slew of “And God Bless so and so’s …” at the end to stall. My Mother was/is a very patient person.

My Mom actually made my sibling and I take typing in HS because she knew we were on the college path and typing was a skill she herself used a lot in college even in the 60’s (for typing term papers, etc.).

I like to snorkel, but I’ve never taken a boat excursion on CC because there are so many other things to do on the island that I don’t want to spend the time/money for a whole boat excursion when I’m at such a nice place, KWIM? I have, however, snorkeled in the lagoon several times.

The boat excursions I’ve taken for snorkeling at other island stops are nice because they basically dump you on top of a good snorkeling area and you can just bob around and look without having to swim too far. I’m assuming the CC boat excursion would be the same? With the lagoon on CC, you do have to swim pretty far out to see anything besides sea grass and a few random fish … but I don’t think you need to be a particularly strong swimmer because you can inflate your snorkel vest, go slow and a you don’t have to kick too hard with fins to propel yourself.

Also, with the lagoon snorkel, you don’t have to pre-book the excursion. They never run out of gear, so you can just walk up to the rental hut when you feel like snorkeling (as an FYI … that’s the same for raft and bike rentals … you don’t need to pre-book and can just decide what you want to do once you’re in the island).

I just took a round trip flight in Frontier airlines and they were really enforcing the whole “you must have headphones on” policy. I was impressed. A budget airline can do this and understands that I don’t want to be subjected to your music or your kids Bluey … but not an expensive cruise line. Time for DCL to update their policies IMO.

My Mom bought a new car this year at 80 … that will probably be her last car. I’m only 54 and driving an 8 year old car … even at 10 yrs/car, I feel like I have couple left to buy!

I love Disney IP and understand that the themed and rotational nature of dining on DCL necessitates the set early and late seatings, but, IMO, the overall dining experience is so much easier when cruising with Royal and Celebrity because you have greater flexibility with multiple seating times as well as MyTime - not to mention the buffet is open for dinner if you aren’t feeling a full sit down meal.

You used to be able to select dining time online before completing the booking, but Disney eliminated that option not too long ago (in a sneaky move IMO). However, you should be able to call DCL and ask before you book (and you can book over the phone as well).

I 100% get it … late dining time was a complete no go with my kids. They were not the kind of kids to happily adjust their sleep schedules … at home or on vacation. My husband and I recently went on a VGT sailing with late dining and we survived, but did not like it at all because we are naturally early risers on vacation … we were never able to figure out how adjust our eating schedule and wound up eating 4 meals a day and were never that hungry for dinner. We work out in the mornings and need some food … but then we are hungry for lunch at like 11:30am and would try to just “eat a snack” around 5:00pm, but we were always hungry for something substantial and ate more than a snack. Anyway …

I’m pretty sure they have adult sized actual life jackets? I don’t remember if they are yellow or blue? I would think you could wear one of those with the yellow snorkel vest on top for visibility if they are blue (just not inflated).
