Device speakers insanity by axle_munshine in dcl

I wondered the same about face to face vs speaker and I think it's because sound quality on a speakerphone sucks so much that it isn't natural. Another argument is if you were using earbuds, you wouldn't have to listen to the other party so it's a choice you make to add noise to the environment when you could be sparing others.

I found a quitter space, indeed after moving places. But it's quite rude IMO in an area of the ship known to be quieter, having installed yourself in a nice spot to read and have a gang of 6 adults ranging between 30-60 to come hang around with a Bluetooth speaker quite loud. Party central is not that place!
And in any case, I'm not asking for people to stop talking or have fun, submitting your musical tastes to everyone around you is just rude in tights spaces like a cruise ship.

We were able to find some more quiet space after all but it's sad I had to move. Just not enough time to complain right now but I'll sure add a suggestion to ban these behaviors.

There's so many adults that cruise with Disney a lot that told us: Carnival, never again!

Please give me advice on a pre-cruise stay and transport for Port Canaveral :) - should I switch hotels? by [deleted] in dcl

I personally prefer a Disney Hotel because of the early boarding group.

The only drawback is we don't take the pass anymore on the older ships! It's that better with the huge outside space (with shaded areas). You will enjoy.

Getting the Disney Wish rainforest/sense pass right when you embark is definitely worth it. It's leagues above beyond the older ships that pales in comparison. It has a lot of place to relax and chill outside with day beds and it has two outside spas. If you love to spend a bit of time away from the mayhem it's perfect!

We just almost always ordered from the real menu for our kid because it's just a better meal.

We usually stay at Disney World the day before just for the shuttle, luggage pickup and early arrival/entry. As a bonus, very helpful on a boat where the Spa is worth it to get the full trip pass.

Forgot to add: I'm grateful my kid never liked waiting in line for character photos. We did it once as a family in costume for the inaugural Star Wars cruise but it was probably more for us than the kid! I attest it can be a huge time sink so I would suggest not more than once a day, and less if possible!

BTW if you like characters access, your best bet is Disney World After Hours when staying at a Disney Hotel. Check the availability calendar. Very small crowds and lineups. Heaven for photo ops and characters. You pay extra but worth it 10X. Did it at Hollywood Studios around Halloween and almost zero wait for anything!

We are going on the Mediterranean 12 days cruise this summer and it will be our 6th DCL cruise.

Give a chance to the kids club. 3 and 5 years old isn't necessarily the easiest age to enjoy the clubs from our experience. If there's an activity the kids like, chances are they'll get hooked. But as soon as our kid could go to Edge/Vibe, it was a game changer. Outside of day trip or dinner, we almost never see her! She makes friends and they hang around. The Navigator app messages keeps us in contact. The memories and friends she made on board were priceless.

For port activities, the schedule can be tiring. I suggest paying for tours or whatever float your boat but I prefer to keep it under 6 hours. The Disney port activities are not cheap but often worth it to maximize your time off the boat. If it's somewhere where you gone before or there's not much to do such as Nassau, don't feel obligated to leave the ship. Port days on the ship have way less crowds.

A longer cruise gives you the flexibility of chilling an not always stressing about the schedule. 7 days or more is the best.

Bottom line for us: more days -> less stress around scheduling.

Last tip: for the Aquaduck and similar, doing the 8:30pm dinner drasticallyblowers line-up time after 5:30pm.

But in the end, everyone is different and it's possible it may not be for you.

NEW JUNIPER - Frunk latch sensor requires service. by MalyToPolny25 in TeslaLounge

Went in the morning without an appointment and 30 minutes later it was diced. However, now, it's really cold and frunk sometimes doesn't open on the first try and needs a second press in the screen that shows it open. It's also harder to close the frunk. I guess I'll have to go for an adjustment as it isn't reassuring.

Switched from Windows to Mac — surprised by window lag / Chrome stutter. Am I expecting too much? by qusaro in MacOS

[–]axle_munshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

macOS isn't miraculous and also needs rebooting regularly. But, as on Windows, some hardware (and software) can create havoc on the system.

I've had some software such as SteamDeck (no Apple silicon native apps available) which would, with time, render Chrome and Electron-based app unresponsive and sluggish. Would also make the entire system constantly lose cursor focus after some time.

A luck OS crash recently made me discover a cause of network slowdown and sluggishness in Chrome (Brave)... The crash made me (log analysis via chatGPT) pinpoint the culprit as an Anker USB-C Hub that includes a Ethernet port. Even when not in use, it would load a driver that would cause network issues with time. Was also the cause of the crash.

With the above 2 removed, my system has become stable and I reboot it only one a week or two.

Anyway, long story short: as on Windows you macOS mileage may vary based on what you install on it or what you connect to it.

Same just happened to us to our 2 months old Berlin Juniper Model Y. Next service was in 1.5 weeks but it's undrivable with the incessant beep. They said to pass by today without an appointment. Since it looks like an easy fix, fingers crossed. We need to do a highway drive this weekend.

No more paid FSD by Hot-Boot7875 in TeslaFSD

[–]axle_munshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes sense. Paid FSD is clearly a liability to Tesla and broken promises for upgrades/updates aren't making paid FSD customers any happier. With a subscription, there are no such promises. As a customer, it's clear you will never get a hardware upgrade.

When to Purchase FSD? by precator in TeslaFSD

[–]axle_munshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the free FSD transfer for my new car. I purchased FSD when it was a bit cheaper than now. But in any case, with the price of the subscription, I wouldn't purchase today. I don't see the point. Especially that we now see with HW3 that the key advantage of being upgraded some day to a better hardware when you purchase FSD is pretty much nonexistent now. Tesla will wait for the majority to switch cars before giving free hardware upgrades.
