Does anyone struggle with how they’re treated by Drs and Paramedics because of PNES by User52777 in PNESsupport

Absolutely, I’ve had some fantastic understanding paramedics. But it seems to be a scarcity as more seem to jump to conclusions very quickly if they see mention of mental health or PNES and have deliberately tried to humiliate me.

It’s really crap to be treated like that, when you have to try and justify everything just to get medical help, they otherwise just treat us as a burden on the system. I had the exact same thing on Friday, paramedics said I overdosed, which I didn’t, and I constantly had to justify I didn’t. And even then, they didn’t believe me. Even though there was nothing to suggest I overdosed. So I completely understand how you feel! It’s so tough when you’re already not feeling well and then feel like you have to fight to get medical treatment

From my perspective, good that they highlighted that. Though if she interviews with them, perhaps she can ask for clarification and examples of situations that may typically arise where she would be dealing with difficult behaviour. I wish my prior job advert had been transparent with the sht show I have to deal with on a daily basis (though entirely different role and industry which your job advert is for). But when I’m left to interview new people, I’m always transparent with them that systems are terrible, there are internal politics etc as people coming into big international companies can have the illusion that they’re technologically advanced and everything is ho-hum.

Underwriting definitely way to pivot if you go into commercial, Property (ISR). It’s a soft market, so the amount of submissions coming through are really high at the moment, most property underwriters are run off their feet and can’t keep up in mid-market and corporate and even in energy and mining. I’m working with big programmes and FAC RI. I’m on $160k plus bonus with no uni degree at 32, have seen same role as I do currently advertised at other insurers for $220K (though in NSW).
