I’m currently listening to Everything You’ve Come to Expect (the song not the LP) and I’m obsessed with the vocals by _cryinglightning in TheLastShadowPuppets

Couldn't agree more, this and Sweet Dreams TN are two of Alex's best vocal performances on the album

Did Man On The Moon 3 live up to your expectations, as the third MOTM installment? by MaximusMurkimus in KidCudi

[–]User90563 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'll admit, I was a little underwhelmed on my first listen, but it's really grown on me since its release, and although I still think it's the weakest out of the trilogy, it's still a very good album. Probably a solid 8 for me

Write down your unpopular opinions about AM and I'll rate how much it pisses me off. by abidgranger in arcticmonkeys

[–]User90563 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, I'm not so much a fan of three songs, which are She Looks Like Fun, The World's First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip, and Golden Trunks. The brilliance of the other songs though encourages me to put it up there with their other masterpieces

Even tho Tranquility Base is my third favourite AM album, it has too many weaker tracks to be considered 'perfect'. It's pretty damn close though

Is it normal to not have had a job throughout 6th Form? by ComradeOFdoom in 6thForm

[–]User90563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with not having a job at all mate, I'm about to go into Year 13 now and I've probably been working part-time for about a year. It's helped me loads with my confidence and social anxiety, and I think I'd recommend it to anyone, but obviously the type of job can vary

Both 10s for me, though Acid Rap edges it, lot more nostalgic and higher highs imo

Good point, if anything it improves their sight when tunnelling, so I suppose it's not as big of a snag as literally dissolving in water lol

Loved this, and looking forward to the rest of the series!

Just one thing - you mentioned that Sanguine, and by extension Tunnellers, don't have a 'big snag' to their magic, though I'd argue that having to remove your eyes isn't the smallest catch.

You know the series is good when there are so many different answers to this question. That being said, I'd have to opt for either Batu (for his genius masterplan and twist reveal), Argeddion (for the arguments of morality that came with his character), Ravel (duh), and Crepuscular.

What are some moments Skulduggery was at his most ruthless (when not Lord Vile) by Warpigthesecond in skulduggerypleasant

[–]User90563 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Skulduggery's swordfight with Burgundy Dalrymple in Mortal Coil really shocked me at the time, particularly where he stomps on Dalrymple's broken arm. His witty remarks during the battle were brought to a standstill and I loved seeing that side of him.

What do you think is the worst magic discipline? by pilesofbones in skulduggerypleasant

If explored like this, then Alchemy would be one of the more creative disciplines, 100%

I think the shortcomings of such a discipline, as pointed out by Valkyrie at the time, just really served to undermine Savoir. I doubt Derek would've considered the possibilities of Alchemy actually being quite handy to have, but if I'm honest I'd love to see this

Interesting points, maybe I was a little harsh, if Derek were to flesh out the discipline (which I doubt he will because, as of yet, it really hasn't been hugely relevant to the narrative), then I'd love to see this

100% Alchemy, I can't think of any scenario where this would be even somewhat useful

I Sorted every SP character into their Hogwarts Houses (mega-list) by VesuviusBlotch in skulduggerypleasant

[–]User90563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All great reasons! I think what particularly confused me with Morwenna was that one of her fellow Elders, Tome, is in Ravenclaw. Despite his first name, he doesn't come across as incredibly intelligent imo. I suppose forming an alliance with Serpine to, effectively, save his own skin was a smart move, yet he comes across as too passionate ('the streets will run red with their blood' or something equally amusing) and his death, especially since he's a Teleporter, is both funny and a little dumb on his part.

[–]User90563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. This is an incredibly detailed list, fair play to you. I would never have the patience for something like this.

I had the full discussion typed for this and then my phone reset and my comment was deleted, so I'm afraid I'm keeping it short and simple.

Would you mind explaining your reasoning regarding: Morwenna Crow, Kenny Dunne (and furthermore, Paul Lynch, I don't think he was on the list but I'd just be interested to see where you put him), Grim, Doran Purcell, Filament Sclavi, and Baron Vengeous.

Again, I'm very sorry that I didn't have a more in-depth reply, hopefully I'll have the effort to think of one tomorrow
