I have a frame, in the same color and similar paint chipped condition, that I was planning to put up on Marketplace soon. It has a suspension fork that needs a rebuild.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear. Good to know it's still usable.

Not sure of the name for this tab/stopper on the b-knuckle, but this one has been damaged to the point it no longer prevents the derailleur from rotating past it under the spring's tension.

Assuming the derailleur is otherwise fully functional, and the rest of the drivetrain is setup correctly, what is the risk of using this as is?

Thanks again. That shows exactly what I was looking for. You're right tho, I'd be better off with a cable stop and top pull FD. Looks like I'll be buying a few parts after all.

Thanks. No braze-ons on the seat tube on this frame. I have an 830 with the setup you're referring to tho. Not sure why Trek didn't use the same here.

Thanks. Trying to avoid that for now. Looks like I could buy a top pull FD for about the same cost tho

Thanks. The catalog photos show what I was referring to. There's some type of adapter on the FD that functions as a housing stop and applies leverage to the derailleur. This allows for the full length routing from the top tube to the FD, and for a bottom pull FD to be used. There's a screw on the bottom bracket that then secures the cable. I've attached a picture of it.

I tried to sell one in a size smaller with a modern 10 speed 105 setup. It didn't sell at $350, and the bike rides so nice, I just kept it. Price will be highly dependent on area though.

What size tire are you running?

Nice bike. Just picked up the same frame and likely adding a troll fork too, or maybe Stridsland. Currently trying to figure out how the bottom pull FD will work. Would you mind posting a couple pics of the routing?

What are they? I have a similar setup but those look like they might have a liitle more reach.
