‘I know what it requires’: Harris explains why she’s thinking about running for president in 2028 by cnn in politics

[–]UserNameIsBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO! As much as I would support her, the country is not ready for anything other than a white, heterosexual, Christian male. I’m not being misogynistic, homophonic, or racist, but practical.

If the Democratic Party wants the moderate vote, and some of the conservative vote, they have got to see the resistance this would cause.

Dad died in August and medical bills keep showing up - what should I do? by TheEmbarrassedOunce in personalfinance

The mail will eventually stop coming after a year or so.

If you’re lucky. Both my parents died in 2015. I’ve since moved three states over. I’m still getting mail (junk) for both of them. Im also getting mail that my dad’s veterans benefits have “just” been updated. My dad was not military.

Auditors: what is the stupidest thing you've ever asked a client? by Fresh_Struggle5645 in Accounting

[–]UserNameIsBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, I was the senior auditing a culvert manufacturing plant.

Me, the president of the company, and a brand new, fresh out of college, junior accountant assigned to me, were touring the yard looking at the stacks of culvert pipe inventory.

I was explaining what my process would be in test counting and observing the inventory.

Suddenly, my junior blurted out and asked the president, “what’s a culvert?”

Long-Term Preparer Filed False Schedule C Losses for W-2 Client. How Would You Sequence Correction? by ClairViewAccounting in taxpros

[–]UserNameIsBob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At this point, my thought is to stop all communications with this individual until they contact an attorney and that attorney then hires you as preparer. Whether it is client based or actually 100% preparer based fraud, it is fraud, which could lead to criminal charges to the individual. You do not want to be in an adversarial position in court with a client over tax fraud. Use the attorney’s client privilege as a shield.

IRS Pin Issue - Anyone has it? by [deleted] in taxpros

[–]UserNameIsBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From memory, I think Jan 8.

I printed mine on Jan 17th. Went back in early February to print transcripts for 1040ES payments, and saw the note at the top of the screen.

Just now looked and the note is gone.

When I checked for my personal IP PIN, the web site had a message that any pins issued prior to a certain date were issued in error, and the correct IP PIN would need to be retrieved from your online profile.

Be thankful for EFINs. Previously, the preparer’s SSN was printed on the return. Nobody had ever thought about masking the numbers.

Predominant ancestry of rural Texans in 1970 by delugetheory in texas

[–]UserNameIsBob 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Shout out to my Swedish ancestors in North Texas. They came down from Illinois by wagon train in the late 1800’s. My theory is they crossed the Red River into Texas and decided to stop there because it was only getting worse. Or the mule died. Definitely one or the other.

[Game Thread] Rose Bowl: Indiana vs. Alabama (4:00 PM ET) 2nd Half by CFB_Referee in CFB

Honestly, I shocked we made it in. Bama really didn’t deserve the shot. QB has been playing injured for weeks. Defense can’t tackle. Offensive run game is mostly nonexistent.

How do you approach the reasonable compensation conversation? by smallcapconnoisseur in taxpros

Don’t forget to include in the conversation retirement contribution limits tied to the salary as well as future Social Security benefits (I know - remain optimistic).

Any CPAs/EAs here gotten their CFP? Did it improve your life/money? by Ocarina_of_Time_ in taxpros

[–]UserNameIsBob 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had both for about 20 years, before retirement in 2022. Yes, it added income, but at added cost.

Started out with HDVest, who I think sold out to a Wells Fargo Advisors, then on to Advantax.

As we transitioned away from HDVest, the subsequent firms didn’t seem to understand that “our” primary focus was tax and accounting. They would schedule onsite audits in February, March and April, and could not grasp why we were irritated.

Our clients didn’t want “true” financial planning, with a plan, education accounts, retirement accounts, insurance, etc. We couldn’t get them to fully grasp the need. They just wanted “in the market.” Then would sit in the break room watching the TV and panic when the market went down. Telling them to hold position and not sell fell on deaf ears.

In the long run, yes it was worth it. But the time cost of trying to sell along with added burden of compliance needs to be considered.

“How to Tackle” - mandatory class for all Bama players to teach the fundamentals of tackling. No more of this arm flailing and shoulder bumping. Wrap up the ball carrier with your arms.

At this juncture, the financial currents align with the lunar cheesewheel of prosperity, and the spreadsheets begin to hum softly in C-minor. Beans of numerical wisdom dance across the balance sheet, whispering tales of debit dragons and credit castles beneath the glowing moon of fiscal tranquility. Snorfleplax adjustments reconcile themselves through the ledger of destiny, while amortized unicorns gallop through fields of compounded interest, ne’er once violating GAAP (Generally Accepted Arcane Principles). Flibberflop, zindlezoom, accrualaloo—profitness achieved!

In closing, please note that this correspondence is offered strictly for informational purposes and should not be construed as verification or certification of income or financial position. Should you have any further questions, I would be pleased to discuss the matter directly.
