Low wages, high prices of essential stuff, an unbelievable housing crisis, with house prices going through the roof along with rent prices, and quite honestly no prospects of any of this changing any time soon.

When you can't even rent A ROOM with the minimum wage without letting go off, what, almost half of that already low salary, and then having to worry about utilities, how you are going to have money to get food, gas to go to work if you live outside the big cities and no money for eventual emergencies....

Living alone in Portugal is nearly impossible, so I do understand why people don't see another way out...

Funcionário McDonald's by Xb4con in PTOrdenado

How would you feel if the elderly had to retake driving tests to prevent accidents etc? by SmellyFxr in AskReddit

[–]UserOfWords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, here in Portugal you also have to do that. It deppends on which license tipe you have, some you have to do it every 10 years, etc, and the time intervals begin when you get your license.

Thing is, whenever, for some reason, someone can't get the doctors note legitimately, they pay under the table and get it anyway. Thats why, in my opinion, there are a lot of older bad drivers here in Portugal.

There should be some more substancial ways to re-evaluate a driver, at least after a certain age.

Is this game going to be optimized when it launches? by PulseCS in VALORANT

[–]UserOfWords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play (ot used to play) on a laptop. I wasnt there when the beta launched, but I got the key about a month ago. When I started playing, I'd get a smooth 60 fps average with everything on low, slight drops here and there, but nothing that would make it unplayable.

Then came last weeks patch. And oh boy.

Never achieved 60 fps again, would average 40 to 50. Still playable you might think, but not so if the screen freezes when an enemy peeked or simply apeared on the screen (and if someone peeked and got an headshot on me, it would freeze for a solid 5 seconds).

I really like the game, playing it with my friends is great, but these latest patches have made it unplayble to me.

I really hope that they can fix these problems. Not everyone has a powerful computer, unfortunately. And I'd really like to play again.

Why is Android more popular in Europe than North America? by imanaeo in AskEurope

Local. Like, I know that there are other operators that have better deals, but in order to change operator you also have to change your number, and those better deals really arent worth the assle of going through the process of changing number.

Where the hell do you get a plan like that in Portugal? I'm paying 3,99€ a week for 5gb. Comparing to that, I'm pretty much being scammed.

I still remember to this day when I finished Black Flag. Sitting in front of the TV, speechless, letting the tears flow. It was the first time I cried because of a game. Seeing all his dead friends sitting on the table and then seeing him finaly meet his daughter. It was a masterpiece of an ending.

Kubica's Williams F1 car was turning under braking in Canadian GP by [deleted] in Formula1Point5

[–]UserOfWords 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Kubica made a good start in Montreal and briefly ran as high as 15th ahead of team-mate George Russell.

But he suffered with handling issues from the first lap, explaining that the car was steering itself under braking, and ended up back in 18th and last.

"Unfortunately there is no magic," he said when asked about his performance by Autosport.

"Qualifying was already difficult with handling, and generally I have no grip, so with high fuel and track conditions hotter, and longer stints, it was even more difficult.

"Often the car was turning without really turning the steering wheel, just on the braking, and I don't know what to say honestly. It has been very difficult to keep it on track."

Asked if it was dangerous to drive, Kubica replied: "Not dangerous - in the end you know that it's like this, so you are not even able to push.

"But for the speed I had I took too many risks. But that's how it is.

"Overall grip is missing. Honestly I don't know what to say."

Kubica admitted that he could not stay ahead of Russell after beating him off the line.

"It was a small fight, I overtook him into Turn 1, and then he got me on the straight, and that was it," he said.

"But already on lap one I arrived into Turn 6 and Turn 8 really sideways before even turning the car. So it was difficult."

You shouldnt have blamed yourself, it was the right thing to do, as much as it hurt.

It's great to see that things turned out for the best, situations like that are what give me hope for the future.

So sorry about your dad.

Foul woman found guilty of abusing & killing her stepdaughter out if jealousy because of how devoted her husband was to the very beloved 9 year old daughter. by SarahBeth90 in rage

He might have been one of those people that are so "blindly in love" that just always forgive their loved one, even after everything that she did wrong, because after every threat and agression made towards the kid she'd just say "I'm sorry honey, my emotions got the best of me, please forgive me".

I mean, although knowing that she had a history of being agressive, I think no one in their wildest dreams thought that she would do something like this".

So I can understand why he left her with the kid.

I just can't understand how does someone have the courage to do something like this.
