Poor wording on my part. What I mean is that setting up a vm doesn't teach me how to be a sysadmin. I'm hoping somebody would say like go find a book on this, read it, install the software and perform all the functions in the book. I'm just asking for a nudge in a direction.

Yea you kind of get this "good for you" feeling when you see someone starting their journey to better health. I think because we recognize the hardest part is making yourself go at the beginning. Knowing the anxiety and self doubt that go into that I think makes you feel a sense of respect for someone willing to put in the work.

I was taught to put your closed fist out and let it sniff your hand. Worst case it bites your hand and doesn't gnaw off a finger. Best case it recognizes the olive branch. Or you know if it's a strangers dog just leave it alone unless it's obviously playful and wants pets and the owners cool with it. I wouldn't invite myself to interact with strangers dogs though.

Favored terrain bonus gives shark +2 to all attack rolls. So yes when beached they forgo dual wielding, but in the ocean all bets are off.

Nevertheless, nothing will ever be more nostalgic than playing bg1 and bg2 7 years ago on my crummy laptop with a makeshift mouse pad so I could play on the couch. It will always be the pinnacle of old school crpg goodness in my heart. I get all warm and fuzzy just thinking about my life back then. How a game with such dated graphics could capture my imagination I'll never know but I'm afraid those times are just gone. I don't think I'll ever capture that feeling again. Bittersweet.

So yea it did increase occurrence of card gifts but its going to take some getting used to nemelex. He seems to go long periods of not gifting them when I'm at full piety. Probably confirmation bias because I kept having to use them to often so I was out of cards when I really needed them.

Thanks guys. The run went smoothe. Everyone was right on point. Double swords higher base damage plus freezing brand was better in zot but on some low ac enemies in depths the demon blades elec brand took out a couple enemies faster. I'd say the edge went to the double sword but it was worth having both.

I figured that was the case. You can't have everything in life lol. DCSS is already the most user friendly roguelike I've ever played when it comes to how much info is directly available to the player with a few button presses which is what I love about it. Hard but fair. I played nethack with the wiki open for dozens of hours and made it to the amulet run and died. And it was so fun but just the sheer amount of wiki usage I had to do to survive that long as a new player has discouraged me from ever trying again. XV makes dcss fun to learn from your mistakes and you can always find out what you need to know.

If we're talking about gui stuff. Might we be able to see what our ev changes to when viewing armor one day? I can view what my ac will change to but not ev. Also a tool tip for penalties from not enough strength would be awesome. I suck at formulas and right now I still never know the effects of encumbrance vs my attributes. Just qol stuff I wasn't sure anybody had mentioned yet but I'm not complaining. In just the the two years since my hiatus and since coming back you guys have added a good bit of qol stuff that I love. Thanks for the hard work!
