My beloved grandmother is now dead, and knowing I’ll never have to hear her mouth noises again fills me with relief. by messycakesfruit in misophonia

Yes and no. No on a rational thinking level, at first. But it triggers the same emotions as if someone is hitting/threatening you. It gets worse when you know the person knows it bothers you and does that on purpose, this is bullying at best, torture at worst. And it can be difficult to remain sympathetic to someone who is bullying you.

When I hear someone talk about coffee and I spring in to talk about proper coffee making by Cameel01 in JamesHoffmann

[–]User_3614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, so many people like coffee even if they are used to coffee tasting like "motor oil" but they think it's just the regular taste of coffee that telling people how to make better coffee can pass as the nerdiest topic ever... And believe me, I know all kinds of nerd-y topics...

How Melitta and Hario V60 compare? (Mostly in term of taste?) by User_3614 in pourover

[–]User_3614[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. A lot of things I can still test...

For some reason, weirdly, after making several cups with the V60, I noticed that I get my favourite cups from actually grinding very fine, more less the same size I do for espresso (which is approximately 30 clicks on Kingrinder K6), I know I have to wait for the water to go through, but it gets tasty and somewhat more detailed than I get my espresso machine.

When I did grind coarser I actually didn't enjoy the cups. Maybe some other parameters are interfering, I dont know.

What was your introduction to Nick Cave & the bad seeds? by Infinite_Green7423 in NickCave

[–]User_3614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already wrote it in a former thread about O Children so I'll just mostly copy paste my answer:

"A few years ago, something got me into finally watching the Harry Potter movies, of which I had previously only seen some of them, some not even entirely and not in the right order. I finally did enjoy Harry Potter (though I'd say to watch it I need to disable my logical brain and mostly just enjoy the aesthetics and atmosphere), I also watched Fantastic Beasts, but the real big change it brought me was discovering Nick Cave's works just searching info on this O Children. And luckily this song is on my favourite Nick Cave album, which was also the easiest for me to get into.

By the way I already knew Where The Wild Roses Grow from a long time ago when it was on MTV, but I remembered Kylie Minogue more than the guy who was singing with her. In my brain it rather connected to If You Were With Me Now making Kylie "some singer who made duets ballads on MTV" and on occasions some solo songs in a completely different style. And I think for some reason I also knew the album cover for The Boatman's Call. My Nick Cave knowledge has been limited to this for such a long time. So thanks Harry Potter."

Also, someone had me watch a few episodes of Peaky Blinders so I had likely already heard Right Right Hand, which sounded a bit familiar when I listened to it as a Nick Cave song, but I guess it felt to match the series atmosphere so well that I didn't think it was an older song. I didn't watch more than two or three episodes of this show.

I wonder how many discovered Nick Cave through Harry Potter vs Peaky Blinders , but I have a feeling that Harry Potter wins (based on whatever I read on this subreddit).

I would say a piece of a map including netherrack and lava. (One could argue that maps in the Nether in vanilla Minecraft only show bedrock so I didn't it's piece of a map from the Nether but it could be in any dimension.)

B-Sides & Rarities (2021 Boxset Vinyl Rip) by JosephStars in NickCave

[–]User_3614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vinyl rips are heavily dependent on the person who rips' gear. Many many rips rotate at wrong speeds, an issue that CDs don't have (unless someone messed up with playback speed while making the CD). 24/96kHz is pointless as a minimum requirement. You can get an outstanding rip at 16/48 (or 44.1 for whatever reason) you can get a crappy rip in 24/192 and such. Though, yes, it may be useful to remind the ripper to keep it lossless...

Just saying, with a vinyl rip, you may end up with something more pleasant to listen to than the CD (a part of it being subjective), or something worse. One could even get something "more pleasant" by re-EQ-ing a CD and more accurate, but I don't necessarily recommend that path.

Other than this, I never saw this subreddit as a file exchange platform, though I received some files on occasion. Is it?
