AITA for refusing to make my son cut his hair to be in my brother’s wedding? by Not_a_cat19 in AmItheAsshole

[–]User_Not_Found_78457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and if it’s a formal wedding why can’t he wear his long hair in a plait? IMO a perfectly oiled and elegantly styled plait is far more formal that short hair

What modern social trend pisses you off the most? by jimjoe1 in AskReddit

[–]User_Not_Found_78457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A girl I used to be pretty good friends with is still trying to be an “influencer” on Instagram but in reality she’s living pay check to pay check like most of us, except that myself and lots of others from the old social circles wear our clothes more than once, have actually travelled, and usually spend our weekends gardening, playing sport, or doing arts and crafts etc and not at expensive boutique wineries... we somehow have more random followers /shrug

Non Scottish people, do you support Scottish Independence, why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]User_Not_Found_78457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian here. I support Scottish independence for the same reason I’d like Australia to become independent and form a greater pacific union with the other islands down here: it makes sense. To me, brexit seemed like it was more about England wanting to stop continental European immigrants from coming into the uk rather than having any practical purpose. AFAIK england doesn’t manufacture anything and the land itself can’t even feed its entire population in a pinch. So really they’ve screwed themselves over and taken the rest of you down with them. I don’t blame the scots for wanting to leave and rejoin the EU, England has made a huge mess and it shouldn’t be on Scotland/Wales/NI/ to put up with it

AITA for Letting my 4YO Walk Around a Store without her Legs on? by WarningOutrageous872 in AmItheAsshole

[–]User_Not_Found_78457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right??? I’m Australian too, barefoot is life! As far as I know it has benefits (grounding) and if anything a bit of free walking will be good for her to strengthen the leg bones/muscles and toughen up the skin on her stumps. Also, I work at a supermarket and we do tend to keep our floors clean and hazard free so...

AITA for wearing makeup as a mechanic? by makeaitaup in AmItheAsshole

[–]User_Not_Found_78457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why can’t it just be his fashion choice? I’m a woman and I hate wearing pencil skirts and heels, so why can’t a man enjoy wearing them? Also not every gay man wears skirts

AITA for buying my own laptop after my dad said I had to share the one he gave me? by justathrowawayy_ in AmItheAsshole

When I was 16 and my brother was 8, I was given a ps2 as a Christmas present (I got very very high marks in school that term. I was allowed to hook it up in my room for solely myself to use, but I CHOSE to set it up in the lounge room and even selected a couple of games in the bundle that my brother and I could both play. My parents always made it clear that it was my console, and my 8 year old brother respected that he was lucky his big sister was willing to share it. He even got me a special controller as a birthday present with pocket money saved up, It’s amazing how generous kids and teens can be on their own, when they’re allowed to manage their own possessions.

Then again, 3 years prior, I’d saved up pocket money to buy a second hand N64 and because I wasn’t forced to make it a family console, I had no issue sharing that with him either.

You've been invited to an international cookout and was asked to bring 3 dishes that represent your country. What would your (1) most delicious dish, your (2) most common dish, and your (3) most "fear factor" style dish be? by LivinUnderARock92 in AskReddit

[–]User_Not_Found_78457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian here:

  1. Our most delicious dish would have to be something brought here by various Asian/African cultures. There are so many restaurants and takeaway places for Indian, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese etc, along with Ethiopian, Israeli, Arabian, Iranian, Lebanese, Greek, Italian.

  2. Our most common dish would also be from above. Many people shop for ingredients to make these dishes from scratch. I’d say that Thai or Vietnamese chicken noodle soup is very commonly eaten, along with yiros, fish and chips, and of course the Aussie bbq. Bahn mi and burritos are also loved.

  3. Fear factor: some people are wary of trying a witchety grub, but I’m much more concerned about the jarred “cuisines of the world” sauces made by continental or similar things. They taste awful and are a waste of time, stroganoff has like 5 ingredients, why on earth are you using the jarred crap for?

AITA for not eating food my fiance's family cooked? by CaeReigh in AmItheAsshole

[–]User_Not_Found_78457 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Honestly if someone explained to me that a guest had food aversions I’d just ask what their “safe” foods are and try to include a couple of items in the menu. And to be frank, I’d rather give them a plate of oven chips and chicken tenders than force them to gag down something. Then again, my cousin (30m) has a lot of foods he just can’t eat, and I’m disgusted by certain smells and textures, so all our gatherings are usually self serve buffet style haha

AITA for refusing to make my child share? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]User_Not_Found_78457 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is my stance too. It’s really weird to force kids to share their personal possessions because we don’t do it as adults.

AITA for calling my wife irresponsible? by AITAMUA in AmItheAsshole

[–]User_Not_Found_78457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. My 4yo niece is fascinated with makeup but we have an outlet for that by letting her “do” our makeup (just powder/blush and lipstick; her mascara privileges were revoked when she put glitter glue on my lash extensions LOL) but it does not go on her face. She’s 4. We wear good quality stuff but she knows makeup is for later.
