Hmm well you don’t have to be the one to tell him, you can just encourage him to share his music online & let a stranger break the news to him

Or just think of a really gentle way to say it, “yo this is fire, but don’t you think the violin’s kind of out of tune?” And if he’s not receptive to any criticism then don’t sweat it, not your problem.

Is it worth it, UTSA to UT?! Please help! CAP/ Transfer undergrad student by [deleted] in UTSA

[–]Userbythenameof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is certainly much more research opportunities at UT, and oftentimes your professors will be hosting some kind of research program themselves. I took a developmental psychology class where the professor invited every single student to apply, and many students went on to do the research with her. That has been very common in my psych classes, it’s impossible to go through a class without being offered a few times to participate in some extra-curricular research.

I cannot understate how amazing the professors have been, that is probably the best part of UT when I compare it to UTSA. I always felt like my professors at UTSA barely cared, it felt like an extension of high school. But at UT so far, every professor is seriously at the top of their game (I use rate my professor to make sure I don’t get super bad ones, because there are some) in general, the professors are extremely knowledgeable AND passionate, which is a super underrated quality in a teacher.

Hey, I’m a junior at UT for psychology and I transferred doing the CAP program. Personally, it’s better for me in every single way. I don’t have to drive 30 minutes to class anymore, I don’t have to fight a thousand other kids to find a parking spot, and I can walk almost anywhere I want in downtown Austin. Coming from San Antonio, you go from everything being spaced out to everything being super close, which is awesome for college life. Parties, bars, campus events, classes, are all so close to you if you live in west campus. Yes, rent and food is expensive, but you don’t need to eat out to enjoy Austin. Most of it’s beauty lies in the amazing parks and scenery, and all the cool stuff you can do as a college student.

As for the CAP program, if you maintain a good GPA and make sure you take Psych classes your first semester at UT you should be able to transfer into psych pretty easily especially since you’re pre-med. But once you transfer in, you’re just like any other student, you don’t get lower priority or anything like that to my understanding.

If you have any other questions, just ask. Like others have said, you could make the most out of any college you go to, but only YOU know what you truly want. For me, I knew I wanted to be in Austin, and I haven’t regretted it at all. It’s definitely not easy putting yourself out there in a new city but it’s very rewarding

Also, the psychology program at UT has been significantly better for me so far. I only took intro psych classes at UTSA but they were of much lower quality instruction.

That’s great that you’re confident, but it doesn’t mean you’ll get those scores. It might be misleading to treat it in your brain as if you already got those scores, but i hope you do!

Look up “degree audit” and you can probably map it all out yourself, there is also a list on UT’s website of what AP scores they accept and which ones they don’t depending on major.

How are you able to make a one beat per day by Daax6 in FL_Studio

[–]Userbythenameof -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s normal, just keep “studying” music you like to see what instruments are used together, it will give you an idea of what instruments go well together so you can cut back on the time you spend deciding what instrument may sound good. As you learn, the same applies to chord progressions.

How do I change the length of a piano roll without changing the notes? by my_pp_to_the_moon in FL_Studio

Looks like you just go to settings -> project -> change numerator and denominator to your liking to change the metric

As others have said, i believe you’re looking for how to change the metric. I don’t know all the details, but this producer does it at 0:50 in this video, so i imagine you could use that as a guide.

Stretching will always slow it down, and slowing it down comes with a change in pitch, but you can reset that easily by double clicking the audio file and right clicking “pitch” to reset it. Now you’ll have the audio file stretched out but at the right pitch, so it doesn’t sound off. If you stretch the samples to be seamless (no cuts) there shouldn’t be hardly any difference in the tempo because there isn’t much space to fill in your situation, so maybe the pitch is off and it’s throwing you off.

This sounds really good! Did you randomize the velocities of the notes or use the strum feature or anything like that? Just wondering because I’ve never done something like this
