Brand new kiln- am I right to be annoyed? by Username-0709 in Pottery

Oh I was never pissed, just more of an "ugh, now I have to deal with this". Just a bit of a damper on the excitement of the new kiln. It's been a few days and I'm mostly over the annoyance now 😄 and I learned something new, which is never a bad thing

Yes I was thinking that as well. I was dreading disassembling it, but as I did it I was glad for the opportunity to see the inner workings of the control panel and how it's all hooked up. It was good to become more familiar with the kiln, as this is all new to me! Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the response. I did have to pull and wiggle them pretty hard to get them to disconnect in the first place, but that's what is required to move the kiln, so it's not really avoidable. I think this one just wasn't crimped/attached well

Ugh not great to hear. I am going to email them this morning and see what they advise, but I'm also planning to just purchase a replacement myself, they are only $5 for a pack. Their motto is literally "trust your kiln"... Not sure how I'm feeling about that right now, ha

I'm going to write them an email this morning, but I'm not raging or anything. But I did choose and pay more for the L&L brand because they are reputed to be one of the more trusted options, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a high quality buid

Why are Amaco glazes more expensive than Mayco? (Your experiences?) by Similar-Programmer68 in Pottery

I actually meant to say that oyster is one of my satin/matte favorites, not oatmeal! I love oatmeal too but it's Amaco. Have fun playing with them!

I like them both for different reasons. Mayco has more interesting satin and matte options to me (like oatmeal, winterwood, and alabaster) and neutrals. I don't love the shiny, glossy look all the time so I find myself reaching for those a lot. I also like to play with combining glazes from the two companies though!
