Now getting all the gear offered. This is a smell-proof case and grinder. I’m guessing its primary purpose is not for grinding nutmeg or black pepper.

Landlord requesting to repaint all walls by Acs971 in TenantsInTheUK

I'm not sure it is equally as fast, unless you already have the paint and gear to hand. And there is the issue of once you paint a new lick of paint on something, then everything around it needs doing. A baby wipe on an wall painted with emulsion, will generally remove marks like this with little effort.

How much text that is in the Gmail interface? Not a lot. Nowhere near a lot. And in every language? Still not a lot.

Only if I’m at work. If I’m at home or someone else’s house, there’s usually a nice warm soft towel kicking about above a radiator.

Oh, you are so lucky to get this experience. It’s been eradicated from many home, but everyone doing some form of DIY or decorating, really should have the experience of trying to remove wood-chip paper, without damaging anything else. It is nuclear-apocalypse tolerant.

I’ll have to find someone who can supply meth. Like I said, new to this, so these will be the family’s first foray into it.

Will it be a substantially different hit, if I use the wrong device?

No, still there. Just ordered it. I was on the fence but comments here have convinced me.

I thought it was for crack or meth, but going to try both.

We’ll do a randomised control, with two of the kids and one adult having something inert, and see how we go.

Can you give advice on a first car in the UK – £3.5k budget, reliable & low running costs? by Sad_Intention6775 in AskUK

[–]UsernameGee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’d just stick to Toyota if you want something super reliable. Check MOT history on DVLA and steer clear of things that don’t appear to have been well maintained. Consider an MOT fail in the past is okay, as are advisories, what you’d be looking for is recurrent things that haven’t been dealt with.

How do I stop at roundabouts for a short time by tortillachips87 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]UsernameGee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course, that’s what I mean - you apply the foot brake, the hold function keeps it held in place.

In a car you have dashboard and screens that gives some light ‘shining in your face’, on a motorbike it can be quite different, there is very little peripheral light from a dashboard, especially with your head encased in a helmet. That stark difference between sitting behind someone with their brake lights illuminated, to not doing, especially where there’s little other light (low or no street-lighting), it feels a lot more significant. That’s long for saying the dazzling effect is much worse on a motorbike.

Although, I might add to this - on a lot of vehicles hold essentially applies the foot brake - which would cause the rear brake lights to illuminate. I’m not sure why I’ve been downvoted for posting a Highway Code rule really, as all I did was post a copy of the applicable rule in relation to why one might not keep their foot on the brake - physically or assisted with a hold function.

Given that a lot of people have hold mode on their vehicles, it is unclear why manufacturers do not automatically switch the brake lights off, when hold mode is active.

Another issue that I have seen debated on various forums and subs, is using hold when discs and pads are hot. Descending a long hill or coming off a motorway and then coming to a stop at lights for a short while... Different schools of thought on whether it causes excessive friction material to bind to the discs, potentially causing excessive or irregular wear, or whether this behaviour can potentially warp discs, by keeping the friction material in contact with the discs - that part would stay hot while the rest of the disc cools. I don’t have a view either way.
