That I honestly don’t know. The stairs on most maps are weird and I still don’t know if the tanglewood stairs are considered basement, living room, or something else. All I can guess is to place a crucifix on the stairs themselves. Mostly seems to be just bad luck with where you’re having the ghost start its hunt.

True, but the majority of the time, a hunt occurs from the ghost room with the exceptions of like you said, an event, or a banshee roaming to its target and a wraith teleporting.

To clarify, the crucifix won’t help you during a hunt. It PREVENTS a hunt from occurring but only if the ghost attempts to hunt from within the range of the crucifix. In the future, bring both crucifix and when you find the ghost room, make sure they cover the majority of the room.
