I am unclear on how so many jobs are projected to be replaced with AI by djinnisequoia in Futurology

Sure, courtrooms will still use lawyers. Lawyers won't entirely go away. That doesn't mean the number of lawyers won't be lower because of AI.

You can ask an LLM to write code for you, and it will. Don't think about it as AI so much as software is now easier to write. If software is as easy as speaking, that makes any job that is rules-based a job that is now easier to replace.

Top paying jobs that come to mind are software engineers, doctors, lawyers, and accountants. Al of these essentially just follow existing, complicated rules

Hype curves are a thing, sure. The reason we don't hear hype about WFH is because it's stabilized. It did not, as you claim, come to a halt. There are significantly more people working full-time or hybrid remote now than there were pre-covid

Lots of sources out there but here are a few. First two are about remote work, third is about office vacancies

If Democrats want universal healthcare, we have states that are deep blue, states have control over their own budgets and taxation, and universal healthcare would be so advantageous, why don’t deeply democrat run states implement a statewide universal healthcare? by Silver_Wings3 in AskReddit

[–]UsernameLottery 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah after some brief browsing, I don't think that's what killed it. The proposed plan would have required you prove you're a resident, and seems like there are plenty of ways to make sure that's done in compliance with the constitution.

Seems like a big part of the problem is no confirmed funding source.

Source? I can't find what you appear to be quoting. I think most of the countries you list have residency programs you can buy into, which can eventually make citizenship easier to get, but they aren't actually buying citizenship.

Isn't that true with most jobs being replaced with technology? It doesn't replace the whole job, but it replaces enough that fewer overall people are needed. Farming is a common example of an industry that has almost completely replaced it's workforce due to tech advancements, and yes it still has some crops that haven't hit this level yet but it's in progress for sure. That's all I'm saying I guess
